How to Access Your BIOS / UEFI from Windows 10
So you want to gain access to the UEFI BIOS? Well today i will show you a simple way to do it from within windows 10. I will also show you how to tell whether you are running UEFI or Legacy BIOS.
If you want to enter BIOS, restart PC and keep tapping the key below for your type of computer.
Dell: F2 or F12
HP: ESC or F10
Acer: F2 or Del
ASUS: F2 or Del
Lenovo: F1 or F2
MSI: Del
Toshiba: F2
Samsung: F2
To enter UEFI BIOS from command prompt, type CMD in search and enter this command: shutdown /r /fw

Good tutorial. I have hp But i tried the keys esc and f10 clicking again and again but it didn't worked, i treid the shortcut too (shutdown /r /fw) it said A required privilege is not held by the client.(1314) (P.s. i also tried the hold left shift and click restart, it goes to the troubleshooting menu but there's still no UEFI)

I think my BIOS is just dead I did what the video says But the bios wont just show up, it probably shows up but the monitor just wont show it Its like the bios refuses to use the screen on my monitor Because when i mash the bios key to open it, the screen stays black but the pc remains on So far the PC works fine, but i needed the bios to be open so i can turn the VT back on

Thanks. this was super helpful and makes me scratch my head.... Leave it to Microsoft to put getting to your UEFI where I'd never think to look! Wow. 1 - I’d never think to go to “Update & Security” to reboot my PC into UEFI. 2 - And within that, I’d never think to go to “Recovery” to reboot my PC to UEFI 3 - And within that, I’d never think to go to “troubleshoot” to reboot my PC to UEFI LOL. Why isn't it a feature you can have in a right-click on Restart and choose to reboot into UEFI if you are an Admin for example?

Greetings: The topic of this video falls right into the subject of my HP Compaq 6305 AMD SFF PC with UEFI rom startup. First thing I did after buying this unit for my home theater PC was t buy a 4K capable low profile PCI x16 graphics card (Radeon 210). Also, I bought a 240 GB SSD for quicker startup and most other apps. I used the standard hardware creation tool (Rufus was tempting) and downloaded Windows 10 20H2 to the USB. After completing the Pro install (licensed with the PC) everything seemed okay until I selected SHUTDOWN. Every method I tried was able to get the shutdown process to proceed to where my Lighted USB keyboard went dark briefly but soon began a new startup operation. In the interim, I hold the power switch on to force the power off of. My research has led me to understand that certain Crash errors cause a reboot. I have not checked the error logs for details but guess I need to review that for details. Any suggestions would be appreciated even steering me to relevant discussion links.

Your boot drive must have been set to MBR mode (legacy Bios mode) at the time of formatting and windows install. As usual you have the 4 partition limit and the windows install will use 3 of them. When the system reports its settings the BOOT will show Legacy. Hope I got this all correct.

So I follow the exact steps on here, going to the UEFI Firmware settings...however when I press "Restart", it goes black, and then I never see the BIOS....do you know what could be causing that? Do I have to have my screen plugged into the HDMI port on the board as opposed to a graphics card?

@@aminafsah7558 It's been awhile since I did but...I'm pretty sure I just had to play around with where my HDMI cord was plugged in. I think it was originally plugged in to my card, and I had to switch it to my board.

Well my PC is in UEFI. I tried to access the bios the way you show. Does not work. I boot directly in windows no matter what. I was used to get the Asus logo to access bios with DEL key. Since I tried to install my M2 drive. I changed the bios setting the first time to OS instead of the other option which I believe was CFM. Now it is going to Windows right away and I don't even use to M2 drive. I'm kind of stuck

**** My one computer says legacy and takes 8 minutes to boot up. It does have UEFI. Can I change this? And C disc says it is NTFS. It should be EFI. Can I change this to UEFI or do I have to reinstall windows 10. The motherboard is capable of UEFI.

You can do a backup first, but yes, you need to set your drive as gpt and reinstall windows. Hopefully you can restore all or most of your backup.

I'm trying to access the advanced options tab in my bios but it seems the manufacturer has it hidden. Is there anyway I can get in? Do I update my BIOS or is there some sort of key combination I have to do to gain access? I'm trying to install a new 1 terabyte m.2 NVME SDD in my laptop, upgrading from a 250gb m.2 SATA SDD. I've tried using Macrium Reflect and Acronis to clone the old drive over to the new one, making sure to keep all partitions the same, except increasing the new drives OS partition. Unfortunately upon installing the newly cloned drive, I couldn't get the comp to boot. I ran all sorts of different tests, created acronis, macrium and windows recovery disks but I can't get anything. I later found that the system was missing some of the recovery files, which is why the system said it couldn't repair. At this point i'm just going to reinstall windows fresh and try again. I just thought someone had told me that there was a setting I had to change when installing an NVME SDD. Does any of that sound right? lol Sorry, I'm just going crazy, and all I want to do is get this done so I can play Hitman/Borderlands3 Thanks for listening to my rant haha
