Fifi Morgan my princeton interview was like that. Even though they didnt ask you lots of questions, you are SUPPOSED to answer the 3 key questions that arent asked. However, my interview for Columbia University, was different in the sense that he asked me lots of questions about myself. He wrote lots of pages of notes so hopefully he was able to write me a good report haha.

Russian Bot Mine was on campus but most interviews are not. My best tip from all of the ivy/competitive interviews I did try to find the parts of you that are unique and interesting. They see a lot of cookie cutter smart kids and really enjoy the unique ones. For example, my brown interview asked about the most interesting high school assignment i’d ever had. Instead of picking something basic or common that had something to do with my major, I actually talked about how my ASL class had an assignment requiring us to attend Deaf events in our community to interact and experience their unique culture. My interviewer hadn’t heard much of that culture and was very interested and excited about me explaining it. Now, I can’t actually remember how I responded to the why rice question and didnt end up attending, but it’s very individual. Based on my experience overall, I’d recommend you try to find something that next to NO other colleges will have. It’s hard, it is, and if you can’t single Rice out for one (or a few) things that you are super, super excited about, then it might not be the school for you. I always had trouble finding a reason I actually loved Rice, besides the “campus” and the “people” until eventually I realized it wasn’t actually the best school for me. I hope this helps :)

Russian Bot I ended up going to the University of Michigan. I got into Cornell and a few others, Waitlisted at Rice, but Michigan gave me a half-ride academic scholarship i really couldn’t walk away from :) Sometimes I think Rice knew better than I did; It wasn’t the school for me and if i’d got in I would’ve gone and been unhappy.
