Chatri Sityodtong is a self-made business leader, global investor, and motivational speaker. His lifelong passion for martial arts has seen him fight professionally in over 30 fights across different disciplines for over 20 years, and even open his own Mixed Martial Arts academy.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I really like him; he's just so genuine and inspiring. To me, he's like a mentor. Whenever I'm faced with choices, I find myself wondering, "What would he do?" I can't get enough of his videos; it's like I'm trying to soak up his vibe, learn to think like him, see things his way. We definitely need more people like him around.

I love that there is so much passion in the way that he talks its like, this is your fate and you choose what you want for the future. I've lived broken for years and I would love to be the warrior that I should be and take more risks. this inspires me and makes the word failure less important to my vocabulary.

I’ve done Muay Thai for 19 years and everything he said is true. It changes. Your character. When women do Muay Thai they change the most, even if they never fight but just train. Please go and try it, I know you will benefit.

Well, The only thing missing is to carry the coconut with you. No matter what career you seek, you should always have an alternative. Doing something that pays averagely is better than failing and doing nothing at all. So go for your dreams, but you need a good plan...and a plan B for use only ''if all else fails''. Because the risks are worth it, but they are still risks, so there is always a chance to fail. But also a chance to win everything. Great talk.

12:08 - when you have adversity, love will pull you over it. It will propel you to do great things. Think for a moment of an activity you hate doing. You hate it. Now do it 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, for the next 15-20 years of your life. I guarantee most people will not be able to do it. When a minute of hard time comes up, you'll quit. Because you hate it, it's natural. That's the opposite logic of love. Love will call to you. It will speak to your heart. And it will help you achieve success.

Cellular Biologist Bruce Lipton explained this to me.. Any organism cannot grow while it is in a constant state of fear. This talk is biologically and scientifically true, and really makes me want to learn martial arts, because I am such a harsh self critic, and constantly fearing failure. This talk really resonated with me.

Good for him for getting up there and doing it, even if the delivery was choppy and the info was... basic. His point is valid and well taken. Martial Arts does require the desire for continual self improvement, but you have to conjure that in yourself. Martial Arts can only strengthen the desire, not create it. I personally couldn't finish the video due to distracting pauses and lack of flow of the presentation. I'm sure if he keeps practicing and perhaps adds some science re: Martial Arts and mental/psychological effects it could be compelling.
