How to Activate your Pajero Factory alarm

This ones been running around for a while now, but a lot of pajero owners don't know they have a factory alarm installed.
So with today's video, we're going to go through how to activate the alarm and get it working. It's less than a 1 minute job to get it up and running.

Well blow me down with a feather I have had my Pajero from new in 2011 and although I though I had an alarm it’s never been activated! How ridiculous that this would not have been part of the dealership pre hand over process. Well today it’s activated (first go thanks to your excellent instructions) and now every time I lock it I have beeps and a flashing red light on the dash. Many many thanks for your video.

great vid ill be activating the alarm as soon as i get my hand on the car this afternoon. cool little trick i discovered with my 07 ns i recently purchased is if you lock your car and the double hit the lock button again it will fold the mirrors in, great for parking in tight spots and it works in reverse when you unlock your car, double hit the unlock button and it will fold your mirrors out

Worked for 2010 NT JDM import in NZ. No badge but probably equivalent to GLS as there's no rear AC but has heated seats. Cheers mate!

aw man. my GLS doesn't have heated seats. Over here you can option them with various 'packs' though. mine is a base model GLS but has the sports pack and safety packs I believe. that got the 18 inch rims, fogs, grill and extra air bags. not sure of anything else. thanks for letting me know

Thanks for this tip. I wondered what the little red LED on the dash was for On my Pajero NX 2019, this trick did work. To test it, like you did, did not work on my model. With the window down, I could not open the door on a locked system. I had to keep the door open, and then by pushing on the door switch, and pushing the lock button on the remote control, I fooled the system. By releasing the door switch it did set-off the car alarm.

Hey MAD , I'm pretty keen to get it for towing of the caravan. All the things I've added have cost me around 2L/100 and Im hoping to get some of that back with the lock up kit. I've heard it makes them a whole new car to drive. When I get one I'll make sure to post up a video on the install and try and get some reading before and after on the torque app. I'm started a new job today and will be driving around 160km per day there and back, so I reckon this needs to go in soon, so I can get the benefit from it. thanks heaps for letting me know about your experience with it. helps confirm my decision to go ahead with it.

@@DENMONKEY I've seen an approximate fuel saving of 1-1.5 l/100, which is nice as it mostly negates the fuel consupmtion of throwing on my muddies for a trip. You will definetely enjoy the install of the lockup mate. It's a well put together kit.

I haven't seen the paddle shifters no. I have seen some others though and think you need to remove the steering wheel and spring clock etc to fit them. I could be wrong here. Not having tried to do that before, I'd have to suss it out. Would be nice for towing though. I'm off to check em out now . I'll hide my debit card first though.

Cool Video. Here's my problem though. I have a 2016 Shogun, fully loaded. My key FOB doesn't open or close the doors anymore. Had this problem a few days ago. I then opened the door manually with the key and the siren went off (not the car horn). Put the key in the ignition and the siren went on. All day long the fob worked again. Now, since yesterday that doesn't work anymore. Can't open the doors with the fob (only manually with the key) and the siren doesn't go on when I open the door. Went to the Mitsubishi service and they said it was a problem with the alarm system, they would have to take the car apart. Tried your trick with pulling back the wiper lever and heard the long beep but the fob did nothing to make any other beeps come. I put in brand new batteries in the fob's, so that's not the problem. Basically the whole security system seems to be shut off.Any idea how to reset the alarm system? Is that even the problem? Maybe checking the fuse of the alarm system?

Worked beautifully on my 2010 NT. It must have some kind of tilt alarm too as if I park on a steep hill the alarm goes off. Probably some kind of anti thieving device if scum bags try and winch your car onto a trailer. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wish l'd found your page a long time ago. This was a brilliant video. I've just spent the night continually turning my alarm off as it was going off incessantly! Maybe an insect in the cabin? It wasn't caused by cars going passed as l was watching the car on several occasions and it just went off. Why doesn't the manual mention anything about the alarm? Not sure on the relearn aspect, but I use a cheap obd2 reader off ebay and the torque app on my android for reading and clearing codes. Not sure if that helps

Sorry Andrew, no mate I don't. Depends how good the traction control is in them. Ive found some things the TC works best, others the Locker. but it's not a 1 tool fits all kinda thing. If you have the money, I'd say go for it.

Hi I have 2021 NX and this worked -- thanks a bunch (Now just to fit some decent air horns Mitsubishi horns are weak !!) Only annoying thing with my NX is three clicks of the unlock to make mirrors come out and three clicks of the lock to bring mirrors in ! Why could this not have been done with one click of the control like all other cars ??

Excellent Derek. If you want annoying, swap them out for manual clearviews. That's a real pain in the ass. One of my last favourite mods I've ever done. Great for towing though.

Those sliders were copping some hits at the end there! How are the factory mounts holding up? They look like they'd be the weak link on mine. It's also a GL but with no sidesteps its getting hammered with stone chips!

I had to get under there not long ago to remove some mud build up etc and they're holding up surprisingly well. Like you I reckon the factory mounting points are the week link here but so far so good. As you can see they have saved my ass more than a few times and even more NOT caught on camera

I believe that because it is an intermediate model, it is not necessary to buy a complete kit, but rather to install perhaps an original mitsubishi reel or module, what do you think?

ooh good question mate, but I have no idea. It seems to be different in some countries and from model to model. Mine is a lower spec GL model though and it had it. Its just a case of trying and seeing what happens.

This does not work on 2006 3.8 V6 GLS. There is a light on the dash, but no info on alarm in car manual. Might not be fitted with alarm?

Hi mate. My Shogun hasn't got the led like in your video. It does have a small rectangular section with a raised circular section on it between the air grills. I have tried the pulling back the wiper stalk with the door open. No beeps! The alarm is still going off when unoccupied and locked or unlocked, but isn't going off when l'm inside the vehicle. It's doing my effing head in!!!! Aghhhh!!!

Haha. I'm out of ideas. Keep me posted how you go though. If be checking my doors etc to see if there is any movement in them when shut.

Hi again mate. I've found the led where you said it would be doh!!! .....but none of the door open wiper stalk manoeuvres with the door open do anything. No beeps. Yeah the doors and back door are completely shut tight. I thought maybe the battery was low but it's starting fine and l put 180 miles on it yesterday so should be fully charged. No warning light either. I have had a Transcend DrivePro 650 front and back dash cam hardwired in last week. It shouldn't be drawing off the battery when the ignition is switched off...l wonder???????

I have a 2016 GLS...been trying it for the last couple of days but no luck. followed the steps carefully ..cant figure out if there is anything missing in the car itself with regards to the alarm system. you got any insights on this mate?

@@DENMONKEY i am based in Kuwait..yeah I got a similar feeling about it that it may not be included.. but I used own absolute base model ASX which came with the alarm system activated ..funny how it differs between models

How many mm your pajero was been lifted? 50mm? And may i know your tyre size mate thanks so much

it went up around 50mm, maybe a little more but then I added all the bash plates and bullbar etc. so probably more like 40mm or so now. I should have gone with extra heavy duty spring instead of just the heavy duty ones. The tyres are a 275/65/18

DENMONKEY I lifted my Pajero 45mm with soft springs and didn’t do much difference. Then I put heavy duty ones on them. Now it looks alright but not very comfortable when driving without any load. Plus I did the wheel alignment like 3 times but still I see tyre wearing on the front left tyre. Do you have similar problems mate?

You can certainly get after market ones and i've heard of others taking one from another pajero and swapping out the whole diff etc with the locker in it. An after market one would be less work though

@@DENMONKEY Do you got little circular plastic covers or can you see the sensors on your front light dome. Mine has 2 plastic covers facing me and 1 plastic cover facing windshield, i think if i had factory alarm there should be noticable sensors not plastic covers. Can you please check that? Thank you!

Would have to be an aftermarket one, unless you got an original unit to swap over for your diff etc.
