Great ideas Ashlan! I studied abroad twice while in college and I definitely found it to be such a rewarding experience. I thought I would throw this out there for those struggling financially to study abroad, another idea is traveling abroad after graduating. The whole idea of studying abroad is incredible and really hyped up. But if it is going to put a huge burden on you financially, I would consider simply traveling abroad. You can travel Europe for even 3 months for a few thousand dollars and it will save you a tonnnn in the long run. I personally didn't do this but I have had friends that have and I can see the benefits of doing so!

The best countries to study abroad are the Balkan & Slavic ones. Im going to Romania and the cost is incredibly low. For 3 years the cost is 6.000€ including the rent, tuition fees and anything you'll spend outside school & renting. In my country, college is 600€ a month aka I'll need 18.000€ for all three years. You don't need to learn any language beforehand, they have plenty of English courses and you can find an English speaking job such as English costumer service in companies like Teleperformance, even part time.

Interesting channel. While none of your tips are groundbreaking news, you did well in performing on them and laying out their use. I'll just add that tuition fees are a huge chunk of the study abroad cost and must not be underestimate. To anyone out there who are in college or are picking one, you may want to check out the exchange program availability and which faculties and destinations are concerned. For instance Paris uni's often allow a few students to study abroad with no fees (you only pay the Paris uni fees for the year). If we're talking Japan, that's six grand saved right there.

I'm currently planning my study abroad trip and something I'm doing to help pay for it is credit card churning. I got a card specifically for my study abroad because the one I already had has foreign transaction fees and when I was deciding on the card I wanted I looked for ones with welcome bonuses that I could use towards my study abroad. The one I wound up getting had a bonus where if you spend $500 in the first three months you would get a $200 credit statement. I spent that $500 on my tuition and paid it off right away, now I have $200 to spend on my trip.

✨✨SOME OTHER STUDY ABROAD TIPS, IF YOU WANT TO READ✨✨(sorry it's kind of long) I'm in uni in Canada and we don't go by the freshman, junior, senior system so I'm not sure where I am in the equivalent, but I'm going into my third yearand will hopefully before going on exchange in the winter semester. I'm also not sure if schools in the states do this but ours do this thing where you can apply to study abroad for an entire school year or just a semester through exchange partners with your school. By doing this you pay your current tuition to your school as if you were still attending that school. This is beneficial because your school would have a way of being able to see which courses abroad are the equivalent of the ones you would have been taking and make sure that they count towards your degree, certificate or whatever. This also means that the money you've already budgeted for that next school year or that your parents have budgeted for that next school year is still that amount. (Ex. Your tuition is $6,000. That remains the same) the things that are added on are accommodation, living costs and transportation.that might help reduce it a bit I guess it depends on your current tuition. Some schools offer accommodation, some are guaranteed, some are not so you'd have to look into that. and also if your school has some sort of outbound exchange program with partner schools around the world then you can probably apply for funding. My school offers up to $8,000 in funding depending on need and that's to be used for accommodation for living costs for transportation for tuition anything that you would need (necessities) while you're abroad. So for the people who are yet to enter post secondary school maybe you can look at schools that specifically have an exchange program so that you can save a little bit that way. you and your parents already know what you're going into ahead of time and would have more time to budget. obviously you should save up because if you wanted to weekend trips and you want to shop and go out and have fun you're still going to need some extra money. but this might be a way to save a little bit. so hopefully this helps somebody ☺️

There’s a ton out there! Unfortunately I couldn’t convince my parents but I did do a lot of research over the past three years. The recommended age is about 16/17. Now there’s a chance that you can go during freshman/sophomores year but a lot of people that I’ve talked to said that there’s a lot of older people. It really depends on where you go. For me, I wanted to go to a South Korea or Japan so the cost would’ve been $6,000+ if I wanted to go for the whole summer. If it was a shorter duration, then the cost is of course cheaper. There’s tons of scholarships so I definitely suggest you checking them out! I know there’s a government based program where it lets you go completely free. (Apart from paying passport fees, ect.) Good luck!!

The host family was organized through our agency and the agency had back up apartments and other host families if anything were to happen.
