Is Study Abroad Worth It? | University of Texas Study Abroad Cost, Tips, etc.

If you are considering studying abroad at UT, here's the tea on if I think it is worth it. I'm applying to go to Barcelona next spring. Even if you don't want to do a video on it, it would help to see how much you packed. Also, how much money to bring for extra things like eating out, going out, excursions, etc. Great video by the way!

The $7000 tuition just for one month abroad is heck expensive. I'm an incoming freshman (woo! UT23!! :D) majoring in International Relations and studying abroad is a requirement for my degree. The costs of the UT Study Abroad programs really scare me a lot, and I'm hoping to find other cheaper alternatives than applying to those programs. One alternative I have about thought about is that I might just travel solo or with a friend to go to a University abroad, study over there, and transfer credits instead of going through a UT study abroad program. I feel I REALLY like this route more-plus I don't have to account for UT tuition and other expensive application fees/deposits, AND I get to really experience the country I would be living in without the burden of a close knit pack of 30 students who never get to interact with locals much. I really don't know if this is a good alternative, AND if it's even allowed. Do you think UT would allow this, and can you also think of other alternatives?? Thanks!! 😂

Cumvers Congrats! My roommate is an IRG major and they definitely would require you to participate in a study abroad program, many of which will have those hefty fees :( there are lots for way cheaper though and it’s definitely a more affordable option to study abroad in the semester rather than over the summer!

I think you can apply to other outside study abroad programs and see if ur university accepts it or something like that. I watched a video on it a while ago but I know there's alternatives.

Cumvers I don’t know what your area of interest is, but you can get lots of scholarship money if you choose a more critical language like Arabic, Chinese, Urdu, or even Portuguese. There are tonssss of in-university funds and private scholarships if you choose a critical language. You can even get like 90% of the expenses covered for a whole year in Arabic through the flagship program

Wow it's just like your video make me want to go to study aboard more than before thanks for sharing your experience it's really great and if you read this comment i just want you to make a video how to get finicial aid or schollarship in UT cause i'm also planing for study in UT too and the problem is i'm not good at studying and also my family were'nt able to pay for the high cost right now i have to fight for myself i'm reaseach about how can i study SAT or writing ressume, CV, essay ( sorry of my writing skill) english is second english and i live in asia " LAOS PDR " if you wanna know and again if you read this comment thank you alot!!

Hi! I just found your video as I'm planning on taking a semester in Barcelona (I'm from England), I also study Marketing! I am just wondering how did you find accommodation and did you get to know/request any information of your room mate before you arrived? As I also will be travelling alone and am worried about who I will be living with/ making sure I meet friends ! Thanks
