I might go back and try it again. I tried to learn it and I got some good games with it. I just got bored because it gets pretty closed a lot of the time. And it started to feel like every game was the same. So I started looking at other openings. But I've probably "studied" the London the most. I've been learning the ponziani and when I don't get it I just follow principals. But I just noticed the other day I have a 58% win rate with black and a 47% win rate with white.

exactly the same with me I got bored and now I play ponziani

I'm also completely imbalanced in the fact that I destroy with black but do below average with white.
@fakes7270 Жыл бұрын
I also thought that the London was boring becuase it gets repetitive but it's actually not. There are a lot of traps that you can learn and if black plays bf5 you need to change your setup completely by playing c4 instead of c3 and going for qb3

I actually usually play the London because it's the opening I think I know the best (meaning it's the only opening I know lmao) but I was playing against my friend who always beats me and then all of a sudden I was doing really good, I even had checkmate in one on the board, but he saw it and stopped it. One of my best games against him in a long time
@cfilorvyls457 Жыл бұрын
If the mate can be stopped then it's not actually a mate in 1 isn't it
@kpoponbeet Жыл бұрын
@@cfilorvyls457 well the situation was that he forked my rooks, and then a brought one of my rooks to the 7th row, and he thought it was weird that I didn't try to save my other rook, and it took him like 2 minutes to find the checkmate I had. If he would have snap taken my rook, I would have won so

It's crazy I have a way lower win rate playing with white than I do with black... and I think it's due to my lack of undersanding of how this opening actually works. I keep trying it and after I've done my little pyramid with the bishop in the middle and the whole structure is set up and I've castled, I have ZERO CLUE what to do next.
@purplecowgaming68829 ай бұрын
If they castle king side its pretty simple. Use the bishop on that long diagonal shooting toward the king and maneuver your queen and rook to attack down that corner with support from the bishop. Remove their defender (you can trade knights or whatever you need to do) and go for checkmate, or break apart their pawn structure in front of their king and apply pressure till checkmate. Pretty much you just use this structure and position to launch a full attack on the king side. This is super simplified and it can be tricky but this is the overarching idea. Take this with a bag of salt as Im a very low rated player, but from what videos I've seen on the london and from my (SUPER LIMITED) personal experience- this works pretty well. The videos of Hikaru teaching this to Fuslie and Pokimane were actually very instructive and helped me a lot.

Is there a better way to take advantage from an opponent that seems to be just pushing the pawns, not using much of an opening, like this one? Or just play your regular opening like the whites did?
