I had PT for 2 years and I was walking normal again. Fast forward to 2016. I was riding a horse and he ran me into a tree. I shattered my pelvis they had to put rods in that. I broke my femur in half. I have a rod in that. I shattered my left hip. I have a full hip replacement. I broke my leg elbow I have rods in that. And they are never coming out. If you have genuine depression see your doctor and get on an antidepressant while asking for a referral to a therapist. Not because there’s anything wrong with how you’re feeling but because this combination has the highest statistics’ backed evidence at working at getting you over the hump. Use such a platform to exercise as much as you can as this plus sunlight, good nutrition and regular sleep patterns too, are also the most powerful ways to beat depression back in its hole. I really can’t stress enough how much the sleep issue is key: you’re clearly made of strong stuff and will get through this.

But if I am in the gym working out it does not hurt. I have definitely lost confidence in myself. I know it’s in me somewhere. Just lost right now. I’m just trying to figure out how to control this pain I’ve been having while also maintaining a healthy lifestyle which I have not being doing as of lately. Two years ago I spent four months in an in-patient physical rehab center after a month-long coma from a bacterial infection. When I got there I was a wreck, unable to stand or walk. My physical therapist said over and over “Do what you can, any way you can.” With her help, the help of my occupational therapist, and the help of your commentary on Sisyphus, Commander, I got out of the center two months ahead of their most optimistic projection.

It brought me down into a deep depression, not being able to do the things I used to, being stuck at home and unable to go back to work or live a normal life. If your body is in pain, it means it's telling you to stop what you are doing and rest somewhere you can't be hurt again. A physical body does not care about your ego to "push through". If it's broken, it's broken. And when it gets broken seriously, it will stay broken permanently and you'll be on medication and pain for the rest of your life. I was in the Marine Corps, and I see a lot of Marines just "grinding through" the pain like it's nothing. That's cool IF you are in the battlefield where you have to push yourself to survive. But if you are not, then you'd better go see a doctor and give your body a proper rest. Your body is yours only. If it's broken, nobody will take care of it. Nobody will care if you scream at night in pain. Your body is your only asset in this world. Don't abuse it.

Injury is the most overlooked topic in the fitness space. For every 1000 videos or articles published on working out (programs, techniques, diet etc) there is 1 addressing injury. Yet, IMO nothing will damage your health, cause depression and knock you out of a routine faster or harder. And there never seems to be any real answers and medicine offers basically the same poor solutions as 80 years ago in the form of surgery or PT. I’m cautious of surgery and I think PT is mostly quackery. This video made me feel better seeing the comments and hearing about how these 2 hard-as-nails guys aren’t invincible either.

There's a strong correlation between fasting and autophagy, one of the cellular processes underlying healing. Either alternate day or about 20/4 daily intermittent fasting seems to be the sweet spot. Also, of course, the quality of fatty acids in the diet is fundamental to the soundness of tissues built therefrom. An injured dog knows all this instinctively. He'll curl up motionless for a whole day, and his appetite later for bacon is legendary!

What
@robertphillips934 жыл бұрын
@@nflmixo9357 Briefly, when you're eating, blood glucose and insulin levels increase. The longer you go without food, those levels decrease, allowing glucagon and related hormones (including testosterone, BTW) to increase. It is these hormones that up-regulate many essential bodily functions, including cell and tissue maintenance. Shortest version -- eating around the clock can cause a lot more problems than obesity.

@@ciaranharper2796 There are really two answers to this question. Yes, searching PubMed for "intermittent fasting" or "fasting" will yield results way beyond my available time and capacity to understand. So, I have come to rely on qualified interpreters to some extent. One of several such is Dr. Ken D. Berry, author of a book titled "Lies My Doctor Told Me." But nothing he or other presenters of similar information say has convinced me of the truth of this point of view. That has resulted from more than a year's worth of personal experience in adopting a handful of dietary practices. The overall improvement in health and cognition is tangible, even if I have not found it necessary to be measured. Further satisfaction comes from the fact that these practices seem to agree with and support my own personal values and philosophy of living. Any who are similarly curious about their place in the world, but are hesitant to rely solely on expert opinion, have my sincerest good wishes.

I broke both of my wrists, 26 years apart. The first one was the worst one. I brought it on myself, though. I was 3 sheets to the wind and it was dark. I was trying to impress a woman with my tree climbing skills. I jumped out to grab a branch and it was dead. I fell 12’ to the ground and had to get a closed reduction. Out of work for 3 months. The second one, the right wrist, was in 2016. I let a friend talk me into a task I knew was unsafe and unnecessary. The wrist break wasn’t as bad, but I also fractured my pelvis. That was the hardest! If it weren’t for my lifelong exercise regimen, my recovery time would have been greatly extended. So, yes. Daily exercise will help you recover more quickly from injuries.:)

No problem at all! I've been front squatting exclusively for the last 6 months and I've hit some pretty massive PR's and my clean & jerk really hasn't diminished either. Same thing with bench, can't do it because of a shoulder issue but weighted push-ups are good to go! Took me a long time to be okay with admitting something is just not working and scrapping it for something else...probably why I have the nagging injuries! But I feel good now and get the same satisfaction in my workout despite scrapping those lifts.

I had the same surgery from almost the same injury but it was my left arm I lost movement too. I can say the same about the strength about 70 to 80 percent on my left hand, tricep, and peck. Neck injuries are scary can lay anyone out

Slipped discs are nothing to mess around with. I messed up a few, and it took about 5 months to be able to train again. All bodyweight workouts for me now

Just like Echo said, it’s the little silly things that of which I get hurt the most. Almost never I got injured during the workout, but putting my 4 year old daughter in the car seat snatches my lower back! O.o

What about sickness, working out makes me feel alot worse and it's a cycle of me not recovering. How can I keep on grinding while also resting, I feel like a bum sitting at home all day (can't even go to work) , but even walking outside makes me feel like I'm gonna pass out. How to not lose that strive for something bigger, when you are bound to rest for 1+ month.

How do you know you are getting proper care from the VA? I feel I always have to tell them that I am actually hurt yet feel that VA thinks I'm just trying to milk the system because I didn't deploy. Even been told to stop physical therapy at points because other injuries prohibited movement.

I have osteoarthritis in my knees. I have TRIED very hard to make my legs strong but all exercises cause the pain to exacerbate. I have tried AGT method as well, half squats, quarter squats and every leg exercise possible but it just keep on getting worse, i was not able to run and now i can't even walk long distances, my calf is jammed all the time. if i don't put pillows under my calf, i would wake up because of a sprain every day strangling my calf like a snake wrapped around it with me writing in pain. I am 32, i have already had 4 knee surgeries(both knees) and i am just in pain and feeling very helpless. There was a time that i used to run 10 km even with weak knees, used to do crossfit for upper body, could do a 100 pull ups but i am just getting defeated by pain to the point where i don't want to take the hit. it's hard to get up when probability dictates that i will most certainly fall back down.

Research Serrapeptase. Also MSM, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Type 2 Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, high dose Fish Oil, Tumeric Supplements Needs Joint Stack contains most of the above (minus fish oil and serrap) and more Combine the lot, and then i'd look at doing super high rep band work to target your knees for blood flow. IR light therapy is a worthwhile investment too, ice first, then light.

So the neck caused nerve damage? inhibiting the right side? I guess? I'm just a lil confused that you said your right was permanently weaker? but no mention of anything debilitating other than neck..... but that would make sense, I believe that's what happened to Bas the MMA fighter, but u kinda left me hanging there, .. just curious.
