Im not very crafty but wanted to start getting more into customizing my clothes, I wanted to make a detachable hood and was nervous but this made it seem so easy! Thank you for the great video!!

What a great tutorial -- your new hood is beautiful. Are you able to show how to remove a hood from one coat, and then sew it onto a different coat (that doesn't have a hood)? Please and thanks!

This is incredible because I bought a coat that I think is about a foot too long and figure if I hem it I can use that extra material to create the hood it's lacking. But since I didn't make the coat myself, I'm not sure how to choose an appropriate pattern for it. Maybe if I just chose a similar one

@@regenschirm37 it should be not too difficult to lengthen or shorten the hood, so it matches the neckhole. 🙂

I found a bridal veil I like, but I am trying to figure out how to create a hood for it; especially if I can use some of the material already there (sewing in one spot to create the hood rather than cut from it). Any ideas?

Hm, tricky. Maybe with a gathering stitch to form the neck?
