FWIW I ordered the Xtrons unit from Amazon (sorry but it was a lot less) and after taking everything apart (definitely a pain as almost no slack in my F34 and way more connections) found that the Xtrons connector wouldn't accept the optic cable. Not sure why but it just wouldn't lock in. Xtrons responded to my email with a better copy of the instructions. I will definitely return it and if I do re-order it will be from Vehicle Virals.

Can confirm that connecting the cables to the Xtrons and mounting to the dash is VERY frustrating. There was basically no slack at all on my 2 series

here is an idea that might help with the oem screen resolution. Change the screen parameters of the oem head unit via bimmercode or other coding software. You should be able to change resolution from 8.8 to 10.25.

No you dont, you just need to clear all faults in the Instrument cluster module and HUD will work

They did some updates and changes to head units so i wouldnt use your old harness and just swap it with a new one
