No you dont, you just need to clear all faults in the Instrument cluster module and HUD will work

here is an idea that might help with the oem screen resolution. Change the screen parameters of the oem head unit via bimmercode or other coding software. You should be able to change resolution from 8.8 to 10.25.

They did some updates and changes to head units so i wouldnt use your old harness and just swap it with a new one

You are completely missing a point here, if somebody buys the same product for same price from a different place why should i help them instead of a place that they bought it from???
