FWIW I ordered the Xtrons unit from Amazon (sorry but it was a lot less) and after taking everything apart (definitely a pain as almost no slack in my F34 and way more connections) found that the Xtrons connector wouldn't accept the optic cable. Not sure why but it just wouldn't lock in. Xtrons responded to my email with a better copy of the instructions. I will definitely return it and if I do re-order it will be from Vehicle Virals.

Can confirm that connecting the cables to the Xtrons and mounting to the dash is VERY frustrating. There was basically no slack at all on my 2 series

pro tip you can buy o ring kits for the coolant hoses on eBay and amazon. once you disconnect the hose there's a good chance the ring will leak after reconnecting. I couldn't buy the o rings at the bmw dealership. This way you don't have buy new hoses just because you need new o rings. New hoses are pricey.
