Thank you for this! I've got my eye on a Blackfoot, and had no idea of the various options. I like the idea of the fin-mount because it uses existing mount, but I suspect you'd have to be careful while beaching. If price is no option, the stern-mount with foot steering is probably the best option. Again, thanks!

Please note - this is a Universal plate that does require some drilling and customization. It's easy to buy the YakAttack plate WITH switch plate adaptor here: www.yakattack.us/switchpad-flexible-surface-mount-with-mightymount-switch-mmsp-1002/. The AG Universal Mount with the Yak Switch plate is how it attaches to the boat. Note that this project will take careful planning and customization, at least 2 days for install, and around $3000. What dimensions are the screws you used for the Railbaza starport mount to attach it to the universal base?

Hey Keith - Rail Blaza includes metric screws which will not thread into our mounts. Our Universal Mounts take 1/4-20 screws no matter what accessory is being attached, but the length required can vary depending on the accessory. For Rail Blaza accessories, folks are typically using shorter screws - 1/2" or 5/8" length. The best thing to do is to use our provided Universal Mount screws to loosely mount the Rail Blaza accessory, then see how much shorter the screws need to be in order to tighten the accessory down.
