This was so helpful thank you! at 1:24 in the video you select an image to add in InDesign. What format should the file should the format be for the best print resolution? I'm currently dragging a PSD file but I think that's quite large? Thanks!

I work with JPEGs or PNGs normally :)

@@BethanyStahl Thank you! That definitely saves on file size :)

Great video. What do you put on the back cover of the book?

This video shows how I make my covers! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ_Mh2SEh5VgoNUsi=LT-70BA4UYW1MCnZ Basically just a blurb, other book covers, a call to action and the barcode 😊

Can I import my files from photoshop with the text already on it? Also, if my book is 8.5 X 8.5 is the cover done in the same size?

Great question! I'm in the same boat on getting this figured out.

Your videos have been so helpful! Maybe you already have a video about it but could you tell me how you make your covers? Is it strictly with KDP’s template? Thanks!

The template is going to be your base. Here is how I made one of my covers and I have another video about KDP covers coming soon! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXSrg35_l7Oofbs

Hello, when adding illustrations in Indesign, if you have pictures similar to your picture at 4:37, where you have your characters in a circle and the rest of the page is blank, is there supposed to be a white background layer behind the circle to simulate the white page, or do you submit your files like that with a transparent background and just the circle of characters showing?
@BethanyStahl2 жыл бұрын
White is the default (it isn't a transparent background) so you won't have to add any additional layers to it 😊

Hi! witch would be the dimensions of the illustration for a 8,5x8,5 with bleed Picture book?

I don't see my text frame. How do I populate this?
@cheryoung87113 ай бұрын
curious what color profile you create in, and then do you change it in Indesign for print/ebook
@BethanyStahl3 ай бұрын
It is recommended to work in CMYK for print, but I have a bad habit of illustrating in RGB and then converting in InDesign. If you are publishing to KDP, they do convert for you, so you don't have to worry either way. More traditional printers will require a CMYK file.

Very informative video. I had a quick question about placing the art work. When you place the art work down you said the purple was your safe zone does that mean everything from the purple till the red has the possibility of being cut? Or does the bleed work from the end of the white till the red.? I placed half of my book already in ID and wanted to double check to make sure I was doing right before completing it

The edge of the white to the red (off the page) gets cut off (in the bleed space). The purple just ensures you aren't getting too close to the edge to look funny when printed. It is more of a helpful guide than a hard-set line.
