Thanks for this. With the current version of WED I see that when an object is selected it's coordinates appear under the 'selection' tab in the bottom right window. These values can be edited by clicking into the lat & long boxes. This means you can drop an object anywhere you like, (clearly easiest if it's near the place you want it) and then edit the location to place it exactly.

Subscribed. Thank you very much for your videos. Today you taught me how to use waypoints for VFR as well as how to make landmarks and place them in their correct location. Thank you so much for your contribution.

Can you create landscape with world editor? Because my local airport has a hill just beside it. Call it a landmark if you will. Aviators can't miss it. But default X-plane 11 does not recognize the little hill, and it throws me off.
@WEHVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alec, I don't really know, I doubt it. I'm not that good with WED just do a few things to make XP easier for me. You could place something where the hill is so you know where it is but that's all I can think of, sorry. Adding mesh is a possibility, here is a link to Ortho4XP if you want to give that a try, it might work??? github.com/oscarpilote/Ortho4XP Check out this video on Ortho mesh. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5Cwk4mBr8moe7M You might fine one that improves you area. Skip, have you thought about trying out Microsoft FS 2020 ?
@WEHVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, Yes I purchased FS2020 a few months ago, it very nice! I might do a video on XP12 and MSFS sometime in the future after I've had enough time in both, don't know how long that will take. Both are really pretty good and XP has greatly improved it's scenery and flight model in XP12, each has it's advantages and disadvantages, it's hard to compare, it depends on what you want out of your simulator. I believe XP has a better flight model and more of the instruments are fully functional but their scenery can't compare with MSFS. I can say I prefer XP because of the many things you can do with their airplanes in Plane Maker and adding custom scenery in World Editor (WED) is a real plus. Thanks for watching :-) Blessings, skip

Hi Skip. Thanks for the video. I have never used the world editor in XP but to get realistic scenery, I usually use Ortho4XP (see this video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmmXqGiaZKpg9U) which uses either Google or Bing aerial photos and realistic meshes to render real world landscape. It is a bit resource consuming for your hard drive and CPU if you want high resolution but it is free and you can choose lower resolution setting that are still satisfactory to get a good view of the ground for VFR. There are also the payware sceneries from ORBX that are absolutely fantastic. They haven't yet done California but they have done Oregon and it is mind blowing.
@WEHVideos5 жыл бұрын
Hi Cyril, Thanks for the tip unfortunately the link you sent didn't work. I've heard about these other scenery options but as you say there is a price to pay for using them. If I were to get serious about improving scenery I'd most likely go with payware but for now I'm content with just using World Editor to "touch up" airports and adding items for ground references. Pretty much all my flying is in the Cessna 172N using pilotage and dead reckoning so I need these landmarks. Thanks again for your tip and thanks for watching :-) Blessings, skip

@@WEHVideos sure!! WED is very extensive and I think there are many things you left out! I think it’s a multi video job to do! I commend you for trying but it’s so much more involved! I have watched a actual airline pilot explaining and he has a number of videos to explain (Jan) I believe is his first name! I would suggest you check out his channel! He has a whole playlist devoted to WED! Again I commend you trying to wet the appetite for learning this program but as you well know it’s deep!! Have a great night and stay safe!

Hi Trackhoe075, Thanks for letting me know and I must agree with you WED is a very complicated app and takes quite a while to learn. My purpose was to show how to do very simple things to XP using WED, I don't have enough experience to go beyond what I explained unfortunately and I should have made that clear in the video :-(. There are lots of really good videos on WED that do a much better job that I could ever do, hope you can find videos that can help you! Blessings, skip
