Very well-explained. One question. How come your metal box did not have a ground wire connected to it and to the ON/OFF switch in the first place, i.e. before you started adding a receptacle? Thank you for your video.

Switches have only required to be grounded since 1999. Outlets have been required to be grounded since much earlier code

You didn't explain why this was being done. I was looking exactly something like this because I have just a power switch for the furnace but wanted to add a single outlet so that I can power my furnace when we lose power using the extension cord from the generator. Is this why you are doing this ? Can you do the same with your setup ?
