Great video. I was able to get a whole wheel out of a Sierra at my local junkyard for $35. Ended up swapping over everything I needed to my wheel. Then I was able to still sell the other wheel to a coworker and actually made money on it! Surprised GM didn't just put these in on all the trucks considering how cheap it is.

Tim Lockett They are by the headlight control, they allow you to access a whole bunch of good stuff that is built into the truck but not available without them. First and foremost is the Tire Pressure Monitor System. You can see the tire pressure of each tire right on the dashboard. You change all kind of lighting and lock settings, you can see engine hours, trans temp, timers, fuel consumption, and reset your oil change light. A bunch of other little things that are very handy when you need them. I did when my truck was very new so i don't recall exactly.

So the after market harness plugs into the factory harness on the column. And if you already have cruise control you don't need to get it programmed?
@TWAMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
austin the plug that goes to cruise now is unplugged and replaced with new harness that has both cruise and steering wheel controls.

So if the steering wheel has cruise control all u do is add the harness and audio controls and that's it? No programming or adding anything to the stereo? And if I buy a new steering wheel with everything on it would it work same?

I like the video but I am a bit perplexed. My 2013 Silverado doesn't have volume control on the wheel (that's why I'm here) and I clicked on both your links. According to Amazon that wiring harness is not compatible with my truck. Is that because my truck doesn't come with it from the factory?

I clicked the link for the harness. It shows it works for 2009-2013. I know the 07 and 08 are the same styles, but will it still work?
@TWAMotorsports5 жыл бұрын
I believe the only difference is that 09 up has a bluetooth button which your truck would not be equipped with. I'm not 100% it will work on 07-08 as I have not tried it.

How far do you have to go into your steering column to be able to plug the harness in? Or does the radio controls have to be ran all of the way from the steering wheel to the radio? Or is it already preran at some point?

If you have factory cruise you unplug one harness and plug in the new one. It's all prewired.

@TWAMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
You can buy a heated wheel at the same time but it would need a different harness. It would also require a trip to the dealer for bcm to be reflashed. Not quite as easy but can be done.

I do have a double din in the truck and have that extra harness in to make the radio work
