If you use 3rd party software, make sure you have the latest updates you may encounter the "180 error"

WELL, thank you!! It's funny, when you think something must be an issue for others a simple google search would bring up at least half a dozen references. Not the case. Part of the issue is that for so many, the Mavic 2 is old news and they have moved on. I actually bought a used one when I heard there was going to be a remote id update. So, today I started that process (which included deleting DJI Go 4 off of my iPad mini and reinstalling to get the accurate updated app). Once I did that it searched and "found" the RID firmware update. But once updated I didn't see anything in the "about" area of Go 4 that showed RID. After going through several searches I found your video. YES! FAA Drone Zone recognized the SN once 1581F + 0 were added. Thank you for this obscure information. Not readily available. Thanks Dray! This is the SECOND time you bailed me out with remote ID for my M2P! I sent it in for maintenance and DJI replaced it with a reconditioned (like new) drone, so i had to update the FAA registration and i kept getting “invalid Serial Number”. Now im good to go- THANK YOU!

Well, I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel. I just happen to see our ID number for Mavic to Pro, which is what I have. I’ve talked to DJI about this multiple times and they told me the remote RID number will be taken care of with firmware updates. And I have been flying. So I guess I better get to the drone Zone, in the drone zone there is an option to click on declaration of compliance for remote ID but when I put in my drone serial number, it says not found should I be using the remote control serial number ? In the drone zone it says to get the remote ID serial number from the manufacturer. Is that another number I need or is that referring to the 1581F ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. DroneZone stop people from updating their current/old drone info at the end of 2023. You will need to re-register the drone to be able to add the RID number

i WAS WRONG! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RE-REGISER AT YOUR DRONE ZONE INVENTORY. SIMPLY EDIT AND SAVE IS ALL. BUT YOU STILL HASVE TO BE OUTSIDE FOR THE REMOTE ID LINE TO APPEAR IN YOUR SMART CONTROLLER.

That option was available up to the end of 2023, I have been told lately. Now you have to re-register your drone in the DroneZone site.

The prefix 1581F, the your RC number add 0 at the end, no breaks all one complete number.

Essentially you are reregistering your drone and have to pay the $5 fee to reregister

AS in the video you should see the RID number in the menu area, you may have to go outside to get sufficient number of "SAT's" to get the RID to appear.

I am putting the remote ID number you described into a Mavic 2 Pro but the numbers and letters exceed 10 characters so it is not taking it at all. I re-registered the drone as well and gave FAA $5.00 more to get your combination into the system. How can I fix this? My drone won't take those 20 characters that my number is now. I'm frustrated. So, I updated drone firmware on app, went to DroneZone and entered the correct serial number with prefix, which it accepted. Firmware update for controller came up when I turned the drone back on, successfully updated. But then it made me update the drone firmware for remote ID again, and no remote ID or serial number except for the controller and camera is present. No mention of drone serial or RID anywhere in the app or under about. Any idea what could have happened?

The RID won't show until the drone has gotten a wifi signal , also you may need to take it outside to get the nessary SAT's. Give 5-7 min to show the RID

I do not understand your instructions. I updated the number in Dronezone per your instructions, but I do not understand how to input it into the drone and controller. I went thru the firmware update which appears to have installed correctly, but the RID does not appear to be working. Please advise.

If you installed the firmware and new Go4 app (4.3.60), when you turn on the controller & drone you need to have wifi connected to the controller once that is up and running go to the about section of the Go4 app menu (Three dots). There you will see your RID number on the controller, once you turn off the wifi the number goes away.

The MEA update came out in Sept-Oct time frame, I had no issues with that firmware update and have used my MEA on several jobs without any error messages. The RID info will come up when you have connected the Drone with WiFi, once you see it write it down. Go to the Dronezone website and update your registration info if needed.

Are saying that the RID number never showed up? You may need to go outside to get a good GPS signal. Make sure you have the RC, connected to WiFi or hotspot, Drone should be on. Check the advance info area and go down the list of info; Go4 app 4.3.64 Drone firmware number RC number (should start with 163........) RID number (should start with 1581F) along with the above serial number ending with 0

its not your remote serial, its your aircraft serial number under your battery next to the 2D barcode.

If you go to the advance settings (where it shows all your S/N you will see that the RC number is the same as the RID number with the prefix in front and "0" at the end. Its worked for all others , not sure why yours is different.

Normally you see the "invalid" notice below the box until you add the zero at the end, make sure you have no gaps when entering the RID info, make sure you type it in (do not copy paste).

Please tell everyone that you must have it outside for the Remote ID Serial number to show on your SMART Controller. DJI just told me that after several hours of trying to get this to work. It must have GPS signal for that line to appear on your controller! Too much wasted time to find out this simple matter!

That way is helpful if you are not getting good GPS, as you saw in the video I was able to get GPS in my home. It is not a requirement
