Realistically, if your toilet was flushing fine, no need to make it use more water. I just bought 2 of these, because they were 200$ on clearance for 45$ each, and oval with the silent close toilet seat. It's actually allot more comfortable to sit on and an easier target to hit when standing, so far we are very happy especially since we paid so little for them. Gotta love LOWES around the last week of January, that's when they clear out the previous years bath stuff - hint hint... We got a 3 piece glass shower for 90$ as well, retail was 585$. Yeah, the little guy wins once in awhile...

You mention using a wire brush. While the CLR is great for removing calcium deposits, I would not use a wire brush on the plastic parts. It will scratch them and those scratches can actually introduce leaks. Just use a brush with plastic bristles. An old tooth brush is good: I take all my used tooth brushes out to the garage/shop for a second life.

@rapunzeleh5463 жыл бұрын
you solved my problem with one sentence. the 'out hole' in the toilet is where the water is supposed to rush out. mine fills fine, but you have to hold the flush valve down... sometimes it flushes all the way, sometimes not. but if you dump a pot of water in really fast, whoosh and down it goes, so not the 'disappearing' end of the toilet. i took the flush valve out and cleaned it top to bottom, but it back and still the same thing... took the part from the duplicate toilet in the basement and same thing, but both flush valves worked in the downstairs toilet, so obviously it's the toilet not the flush valve. on with the rubber gloves and whaddaya know, i could actually feel crunchy bits all around the inside of that front hole (sure there is a technical name)... just about out of CLR, so i dumped a whackload of vinegar in it. not sure how much my septic tank critters will like that but better than chemicals... so thanks! pretty sure that's going to fix it. 5 mins later. took a tiny screwdriver, with the handle down into drain hole, and gave a few pokes at the calcium crunchies and they came off no problem... back in business!!

Just installed a similar low flow valve and new toilet for the first time in our home that previously had an ancient traditional toilet. Our first day with this and I'm confused as to why we're needing to hold down the white button for almost the entire flush to get the full force needed. Shouldn't this be a simple one touch and done? What have I got wrong?

After installing a brand, new toilet, does the same thing the other toilet did whereas it will flush down the water in the tank but the water in the bowl will not go down. What’s the problem?
@Sobin167 ай бұрын
This sophisticated siphon is by design a mess. The old school ball float was and still is way more reliable. The culprit is usually a delicate rubber diaphragm seated atop this siphon that is controlling the water flow into the tank. The diaphragm has a pin hole, actuated by the float arm. The thing is over time dust or minute rust particles pass through the inlet side and get lodged in the pin hole. This disturbs the vacuum, preventing a perfect seal in the area where the diaphragm sits. Eventuallly you have this run off situaution. Althhough a simple dismatle and clean up is enough, a majority of normal folks end up damaging the diaphragm or not sealing the system properly and that's the point of no return. I am currently on my 3rd set in 9 years. When the leak starts I always try to fix it once and if it occurs again in a short while (which it will if not done the proper way), I've learned to straightway replace it as it is fairly cheap, costing less than $5 here in India. The stuff is made in China anyway and is by design a use and throw spare. Saves time and gets the system back in business in under one business day. The only real benefit I see in the single piece toilet vs. the more traditional european toilet is the less water that is needed per flush, plus it looks sleek. But the king of reliability is always the traditional ball float siphon. There is nothing sophiticated in its mechanism and any average joe can replace a faulty ball float flush siphon rather than paying a plumber.

Thank you I have simular toilet mechanism I noticed it started leaking water tonight from the kitchen lights downstairs so I headed up and took some water out from the top bowel and noticed there was a plastic tube sunken to the bottom of the bowel but still attached to the right hand side part then I noticed the plastic flusher has two small round holes either side so I put the tube into the plastic flusher but had to put it quite far down. The it looks a lot longer than yours! So basically what I think happened is the water was very close for over filling the bowel after flushing and now I'm concerned about flushing it. This all happened within the last few hours so what do you suggest I try please? Hope all that makes sense.

@jamesmhenderson Жыл бұрын
Remove the float (carefully pull apart hinge where it connects). Pop the little blue top off the intake valve (left). Counterclockwise quarter turn and the valve comes apart. Check the seal for mineral build up and clean. Reassemble. That should fix it if it just keeps flowing even when the float is up.
@UnreachabIeCode2 ай бұрын
What part is the siphon with the blue button? Mine is a similar design, a bit taller. It’s currently not dropping the valve after a flush, which means it just keeps running water and doesn’t fill the cistern. Is there a way to fix this?
@ZaneTyler-c5q Жыл бұрын
you do not have to turn the flush valve all the way till it stops (mine does not stop lock)(12:33) because it is the flush valve seal, that "seals" not the valve position. Also, on my Tuscany Dual Flush, you can turn the flush valve C.C.W. or C.W. -- it does not matter and center the blue-half flush/white-full flush) just like it came from the factory. The number gauge on the flush valve faces towards the bowl which places the white-full flush on the right side.(Full flush is also called "Long Flush". I imagine you can swap which side you want the Full vs half flush on by rotating the valve itself and the dual buttons, but why? I just left it the way factory had it. the two push buttons are easy to clean with vinegar or alcohol. It even disassembles easy if you really want is super clean. Personally, I clean "IT" everyday. Not too many things are worse than a nasty loo. It's possible to push the two buttons all the way down, and get them pretty clean without taking them apart.

My first exposure to this system after a lifetime of traditional values. Why is it that we're needing to press the full flush button and hold it down waiting for the entire flush to complete instead of a simple press & go like it should be? I DIY installed a new American Standard toilet yesterday

You may have to take apart your fill valve. I had a similar problem where the toilet would fill very slowly and not always turn off completely. I took apart the fill valve and saw it was plugged with debris from the water line which both prevented the water from flowing freely and stopped the valve from closing completely every time. After I cleaned the debris out with a small screwdriver it worked great.

how do you adjust how much water is in the bowl? seems way too little.
@dc6233 Жыл бұрын
The 2 valve adjustments control how much water flushes, the water level in the bowl is probably relevant to the design of the trap that's cast within the toilet itself; The water level in the bowl has to be just above the trap. You can try adjusting the valve but I don't believe that will help. If it's flushing and not plugging up, leave it be. The water in the bowl only has one function, to trap the sewer gases from reaching your nose. It's why the Queen of England was chopping off heads left and right until one of the peasants learned how to trap the water within the bowl, thus sealing off the stench...
@Zain09921 Жыл бұрын
In my case The bowl is not functioning well. it doesn't stopping the water flow. It's keep the water flow in and water gets over flow through the small valve near the Central unit. Don't know why the bowl is not doing its job well. Does it is an issue with the washer ? Do anybody knows ?
