We moved into this house just over a year ago. Since then we’ve had the water company out 4 times to unblock a drain blocked with toilet paper. This is totally due to a poor flush in this design of toilet. Having seen you video and examined our cistern. Can now see that we’re only getting 50% of the potential water flush even on long flush mode! I’ll carefully adjust the lower ring now I can see where the catch is (right at the back in a slim cistern). The other issue which I hate is whoever installed the toilet only a few years ago never bothered to put a shut off valve in the cold feed! Thanks to your video I hope we can avoid any more call outs by the water board due to poor flow and a very shallow fall on the party drain. Thanks for the video it’s really very helpful.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We recently replaced three cisterns with this diabolical system, and the plumber left all three significantly under flushing. I had no idea that the latch existed - and that the whole mechanism could be lifted. As someone else advised in these comments, I found the stubby end of an Allan key to be the perfect tool to slide the latch to the 'open' position - and from there adjusting the water level was a breeze. I increased the flush by approx 2 liters and voila - no more double and triple flushing.

Thanks for the video. I lived with a weak toilet for many years and meddled with it countless times. I never knew that that were 2 adjustment points. In my toilet, the post extends telescopically when u twist it. The extra 5cm of water really increased the flushing power

Thank you this video has helped a lot. I too was about to replace the toilet.. The fiddly clip is difficult to get to with a slim cistern, but eventually the clip did move anticlockwise. No more blockages, which resulted in tenants trying to unblock and dislodging the waste at the back of the toiled after using brute force with a coat hanger wire resulting in a pretty unpleasant flood. No more double flushes!

Great video. I just bought a toilet and I noticed that the over flow tube is much lower in the toilet so this limits the amount of water that can be put in the toilet. This toilet modification which was done by manufacturers to save water does not work. If the toilet has to be flushed 2 or three times to flush the waste away no water is saved. In fact more water is being used. Your toilet may not have that problem but you did show how to adjust the water level valve that is similar to mine so thanks for that.

I noticed from one of the comments that one person had a problem with the whole assembly turning and they ended up with a water leak. For the benefit of others I note that the clip is indeed quite stiff and needs a fair bit of force to move. So there is a risk of the whole assembly turning if it's not tight enough at the bottom of the cistern. Didn't happen to me but your millage may vary.

Made a few adjustments to the flush mechanism etc but then turned the isolation valve screw on the pipe so it was almost closed off but enough so that the water doesn’t get in to the overflow pipe. CHEERS MATE!! I will try this with my very similar design Tuscany dual push-button... These are nice looking toilets with slow/quiet close seats, but the flushing mechanism has cost me HUNDREDS of dollars each time that I have to call the plumber to unclog my drains in my multi-units after my tenants clogged it... HEY GUYS, I have an easy idea on how to fix that overflow issue if you would like to get even more water in... Try the following, which I already know would work as a SMART/DEEP/THINKER/INNOVATOR as I... Solution: Purchase a compression-type rubber fitting with rings that allow you to attach via fasteners... Now attach a 1" (I am guessing that the over-flow is around 1"-2" pipe, so get one compression fitting just slightly wider to go around the over-flow pipe)... Tighten up snugly... VIOLA! You have successfully extended the overflow by another 4-6 inches. So now, you can adjust the height of your water even higher up to around 2"-3" higher or 8L-9L (this also depends on how high the mechanism would allow for you to adjust)... VIOLA! You should now have an even more stronger flush after this mod, assuming that the mechanism will allow you to adjust the height even higher... I will try this idea, and I should make a video about it one of these days... Good luck mates and tell me how this idea work (it should/will work as I am rather confident, except the mechanism doesn't allow you to adjust that high as this is the only restriction)....

Next time you install a toilet dab a bit of silicone on the anchor screws holding the tank to the wall and let dry. This will keep them from rusting in the damp environment inside the tank. The silicone will easily peel off if you need to replace the toilet and the screws will be easier to remove since they won't be rusty.

@EbaleyTheRogue5 жыл бұрын
In other comments it was mentioned that the base could turn. I suggest that, after unclipping, care be taken not to rotate the assembly, but just to lift or lower it. I watched another vid, regarding replacing the o-ring gasket, and the concepts in that vid would be good to know before attempting this fix. It seems there are at least two generations of this assembly. One of them has side clips, near the base, keeping the unit atop the drain, while the other rotates, to affix/remove the unit. If yours is the latter type, it would be prone to loosening during this height-adjustment operation. I am about to dive into mine. My tank will not stop running, but it does not leak, which indicates to me I need to perform this height adjustment versus a gasket cleaning/replacement. I'll find out soon enough whether I have the clips or the rotate model. Here goes....
