Thank you for the info. My Toyota pick up was not releasing the clutch properly. I had a mechanic that told me to replace the master and slave cylinder, replace both and it was having the same problem. Then the clutch was replaced and it had the same problem. Finally I saw this video yesterday and did the clutch pedal adjustment and this resolved the problem. Thank you for the info once again.

I would like to thank you for saving my 92 Toyota Pickup. I was about to give up on fixing it after putting in new every part in the clutch system and still not being able to shift it into gear. I had no idea that the most important part is adjusting the clutch pedal until I happen to find you cool video. I have read countless forums and watch a bunch of videos about changing the clutch and none mentioned this adjustment. I can't imagine how many people have put new clutch packs in their Toyota cars and trucks when all they needed to do was adjust the pedal. I did everything possible and it was no better than when I started . I just wished I had seen this video much earlier since the clutch pack I replaced was only about 2 years old and had maybe 2000 miles on it.I could not believe a 2 minute job was all that was needed. Thanks again !!!

👉🏼You've kept me from trying to find an honest shop. For several years I had a very reasonable, reliable mobile mechanic I could really trust who always took good care of the things I could not on my Tacoma. However he's since relocated... When I recently found there was too much play in my clutch, the worst scenarios went off in my head. But your post truly helped me out, short & easy to understand. Small correction: The reason you set freeplay is if you have no freeplay, the system will be pressurized with the clutch pedal already out, and when it is pressurized, it will slightly disengage the clutch. This can cause your clutch to slip, like it will if you rest your foot on the clutch pedal while you drive. Expansion from fluid heating up won't damage the hydraulics; the pressure from your foot far exceeds that.

Thanks for this video. My tacoma had a loud squeak when my clutch was all the way out at idle. Drove me nuts. I made a small adjustment to the clutch pedal as shown in your video, and no more noise!

I notice in all of these guides and how to's don't mention that adjuster between the pedal and master cylinder push rod, had recent trouble with clutch not disengaging, that adjuster was buckling everytime the pedal was pressed

Should the free play have tension problem is slave cylinder was missing a bolt got fixed and now clutch starts grabbing about an inch from bottom I added a a little free play but I don’t want to screw anything up

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? My clutch doesn't release and when I loosen the pedal nut, the "tube" just spins freely and doesn't seem to matter if I turn it several times around the clutch still grinds reverse gear.

What if your clutch goes to the floor and won't come back up. I had to jack up my truck and put it on ramps . So the front end is up. I had to lift the peddle up . It responds like clutch with the front end up. But as soon as it is on flat ground it won't shift . Followed by it going to the floor. I BELIEVE IT WAS MESSED WITH SO I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYWHERE!!!! BUT I AM DETERMINED TO OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM.

Sounds like either a leak in the hydraulic line or master or slave cylinder are broken. I see you posted this a while ago. Curious what the solution was.

Sorry for lateness... If its hard to press down, it might be a binding in the hydraulic line, or worn out seals in the hydraulic line. Also check the return spring under the dash.
