Be careful how much you loosen the lock screw because when you pry the adjustment nut up it may jump it off the brass float stud going into the carb . Also rendering the adjustment you make afterwards usless because you aren't actually turning the brass stud in or out . You are just chewing up the flat edges of the stud and inner flat edges of the nut. I found this out the hard way . Until I got frustrated drained all the fuel took the lock screw an nut completely off and saw how it all works together. It may be helpful to others as well to show the assembly out of the carb how the nut interlocks to the brass stud and what you loosening and turning the nut is doing . Great video and I did get everything set and working much better after this .

I have a 4160 Holley 600 carb, Ive had issue after issue with it. I tried returning it after 5 months of owning it but it exceeded the warranty. Please just recommend me to a Holley Professional in the Bay Area! I would love to get my Holley adjusted the right way. I’ve took it to 2 mechanics, and one of them said I bought a faulty carburetor and to return it. Im not a mechanic so I’m not going to touch the carb and mess something up I have no business adjusting. I need a professional Holley Carb Specialist in the Bay Area thank you!

Add a 10 micron fuel filter before the mechanical or electric fuel pump. It will keep super fine sediment out of the needle and seats that is a major cause of flooding at idle and after shut down.

If you have sight glasses, how do you remove fuel to lower the bowl levels?
@scooters_z28174 ай бұрын
Slowly remove one of the lower mounting bolts. Unscrew the lower bolt slowly and fuel should start to come out. Have a rag or something to absorb the fuel.

Sadly you didn't fix my whole problem. That's because my engine is junk, haha (It's a blowby monster). I have already ordered a crate engine, and this got me started at least. I will be using the current intake for my new engine, and old engine used a 500 cfm. The new engine uses 600 cfm, so I dropped a 4160 on it. The front bowl pumped fuel out of the sight hole with the coil unplugged and cranking. Half a turn put the level right at the bottom of the sight hole. I was wondering why my engine was wanting LESS idle screw adjustment than 1.5 turns. I guess it was already getting enough through other means. THANKS!!

I have a 4412 2bbl on my 390 ci the instructions say 5to 7 psi I'm running a elec fuel pump with regulator I ran it at 3 psi in a 5 gallon can filled it up in less than 5 min 5 to 7 seems high on a 2bbl is it flow bench tested by the specs of each carb ??? As in was that carb tested to hold 6 psi ???

@HolleyPerformance7 жыл бұрын
If your carb has plugs it doesn't need to be running (excess fuel will just spill out of the hole) but if you have sight windows then the best way to lower a float level that is too high is to first lower the float level and then run the engine to use up the excess fuel that is still in the bowl. J

So if your float level is too high and you have built in sight windows, how do u lower the fuel level in the bowl before making your adjustment?
@matthewbelcher22316 жыл бұрын
crazy4honda adjust at idle, until level seats right. Watch your fuel level rise and fall, as you adjust. Make sure you use a catch rag, to catch the leaking fuel, while you make adjustments. You don't want any fuel, leaking on electrical, wiring, parts, or any part of your ignition system, leads, plugs, distributor, or exhaust system, anything that can catch the fuel on fire. PS If your fuel level in to high ... Adjust as the video says, while your vehicle is running, so your vehicle can use, or burn up the access fuel, as you adjust to find the right level. If your level is to high, you can make an adjustment, in the right direction, as the video says or quote, before you start your vehicle, to prevent overheating. Then when you start your vehicle... after you have made your adjustment, to attempt to correct your float level, you should start to see your fuel level change, from your first start up, to give you a head start on adjustment, before your vehicle gets to hot at idle, with no air flow through your radiator, while your vehicle is parked at idle. Keep an eye on your temp, while adjusting while running. If it gets to hot, check your fuel level, before turning off. Shut it down, to let it cool down, when it cools down, make another adjustment, before you start your vehicle, When first start your vehicle, watch the level adjust, when you first start up, then adjust to suit. When you think you have your level right, allow to idle to see if the level stays correct. Then give a good rev, to see how your level behaves. When you rev, the level should fall a little bit, then self correct itself, at idle.
