Question for the OME team: for the front coilovers, the reservoir hose is snaked under the UCA, and the hose is always in contact with the underside of the UCA. What happens when the UCA comes down, wouldn't it press down on the hose and yank it?

Would you just turn the compression down if you were about to do a long road trip on the highway with minimal weight?
@travsformation12 ай бұрын
For on -road driving, it's generally better to have stiffer shocks to make the vehicle more planted, with less body roll. The vehicle will also respond better to emergency manoeuvres. But if you're traveling light and don't mind sacrificing a bit of safety and stability, it will make the rice more comfortable, yeah

@ShockSurplus2 жыл бұрын
Its going to depend on your loadout and overall weight front and rear, and what terrain you're talking about. Make some adjustments though, typically starting with high rebound and compression, and dialing it back from there.
@JoshSaltmarsh10 ай бұрын
Can you explain why your manual suggests a higher number rebound setting for heavier loads if that is actually more damp (slower to rebound). Seems backwards.
@ARB4x4Accessories9 ай бұрын
The manual can be used as a starting point or guide but it is recommended the user finds the best settings to suit their needs. Generally you don't want a shock to rebound to quickly by the force of the spring as its not controlled and can have too much of an effect. By putting more rebound adjustment in you can slow that rebound event to a controlled pace and ensure the vehicle is more stable and safer to drive. I hope this helps.

Can you adjust the height of the shocks?
@ShockSurplus2 жыл бұрын
You cant adjust the height of the shocks, you can adjust the ride of the vehicle though by preloading the front coil springs. This doesn't lengthen the shocks, but instead makes the shocks operate in an extended position compared to no preload on the springs.

If you dont use shocks for that period of time, the inner seals dry out and leaks begin, thus your (too) loose handling. This isn't normal for their shocks, it happened to the bp51 on our tacoma after it was out of commission for a year

I know this is an older video but I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I've got a 21 tacoma with the OME BP-51 heavy duty kit with SPC uca's and running 35s for tires. I'm having 2 issues, first is on the rear shock I can't adjust it. The entire shock spins to the point of forcing the fitting for the reservoir line into the shock bracket. It will break it if I pull harder. Secondly it seems the shop that's doing the work can't get my alignment right. Been done over a dozen times in less than 2 weeks. It's always rubbing on something. (Lower control arm, sway bar etc.) And the alignment always has at least one number in the red. Are these issues you've found solutions to? Or have I had idiots working on my ride?
@coltonstiffler33402 жыл бұрын
Having a similar situation with my rear BP-51s on my '17 4Runner. It is nearly impossible to adjust them without the entire shock rotating in the shock mount. Also, adjusting the fronts are a royal pain in the ass as well, as the spring coils are directly over the adjustment rings, and I can't get the spanner wrench seated in the grooves easily. I tried again last night to make adjustments to the full suspension setup, and was so frustrated at how a system that OME claims to be "extremely easy" to adjust, is anything but easy.
@coltonstiffler33402 жыл бұрын
Also, I've tried to reach out to ARB/OME multiple times to get answers on how to make this easier, and get no response. Their customer service is horrendous.
@TheJourneyOverland2 жыл бұрын
Well I did find that the shop I took it to for the install didn't torque the shock mount bolts. One side was barely past finger tight. I'm still trying to find the proper spec for them. All Trades says 55ft# but I've seen it up to 80 in Toyota forums. But without some sort of anti spin seating in the shock bracket I'm afraid it won't fix the issue.
@Jedda73 Жыл бұрын
I just went through this pain today, but finally discovered there are holes at the top to put a thin bar or a screw driver through to hold the body of the shock in place while adjusting it, one either side of the hose connection. I also used some silicon spray to clean and lubricate the adjusting rings before I started.
