These settings had me using a TON of product. I had to dial back more than a turn to get a good flow

As an amateur, doing this outdoors for the ventilation and lighting, using a cheap air compressor, moisture trap and desiccant filter; I was running through the liquid far too quickly using just the basic settings, and coat getting to thick very easily. I have been starting with the recommended settings and dialing down the liquid adjustment till I get a dry spot and then turning it up an 1/8th of a turn. Sometimes this results in the liquid knob only being open half as much as recommended. Remember, I'm a beginner, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

what is the correct room temp for series H coating. Its all based on solvent evaporation control; too cold gets orange peel etc. Don't want to waste all the prep time.

The only time I got Orange Peel was when I tried to coat a piece in two different colors, this was not stenciling, it was masking for one off the part, removing the masking tape, and spraying over the surface previously covered with masking tape. Subsequent parts that were two colors, I blasted the surface after re-masking, not only got cleaner lines, no orange peel. I assumed residue left by the masking tape had messed with the coating causing the orange peel. That, or some water got through with the air in my cheap compressor setup and mixed with the coating.

Pattern adjustment knob ONE revolution, fluid adjustment knob TWO revolutions from closed positions and air pressure knob is open all the way. These settings are for our most common used fan pattern that should measure between 2-3 inches and spray in an OVAL shape.

I agree. I’m finding better resources from places other than Cerakote. I wish they’d give you a manual or some kind of documentation for the intermediate spray gun online but there’s absolutely zero info anywhere. This video is of no help for anything other than general spraying. Kind of pathetic

@@csenior10 I already ran through liquid at 2-4 times the rate with the settings they recommend in the manual and here, I started dialing down the fluid knob, still getting the same result, if not better, and the liquid coating lasted much longer. By rate, I mean, they say 36ml can coat an entire handgun, yet at first I ran out of 36ml before I got through the small parts. Dialed down liquid, got the same pattern on the paper and it lasted just as long.
