I don’t have this generator nor do I have a problem with mine. I watched the e tire video, with addition of the carburetor cleaning one. Just awesome videos and and good explanation of how to.

Great Video! I have a 3500, 2, maybe 3 yrs old, with very few hours on it, running rough. Your video's (the carb clean, and this with the bent push rods) really helped. I'm in NW Montana, so am also going to clean the carb, and check the jet size. If it's a #76, going to look for a #75 for this guy. Appreciate your putting these vids together.

You are amazing! I enjoyed the way you solved the problem. I have a 3500 and I’m up in the mountains of Flagstaff AZ at 8200 ft. It runs awesomely. Used it for everything in my RV. Even a little 5000btu air conditioner. Now if I could just get my built it Conan 4500 generator working. It’s 26 years old and stopped working a year ago. It would run while the button was pushed but when you let go it stopped. It ran my RV top air conditioner where the 3500 won’t. It takes too much starter power. I did change the two capacitors/relays or whatever they are called on the air conditioner but still won’t work on the 3500. I wish I was close to you! You know your stuff! Thanks for the videos!

Thank you for your compliments I am glad my videos are enjoyable and helpful! the Onan gen probably has a bad fuel pump and dirty carb from the old fuel sitting in it. try cleaning the carb first and see how it goes.

For your generator check out the oil pressure sensor. Might be faulty if it doesn’t stay running

Check out some generic videos of onan generators. They are pretty common to fail and keep the generator running without holding the button

good info in this video. I just finished cleaning the carb on my Troy Bilt 7000xp generator and didn't know about the secondary jet on the top. Luckily mine is running good so I'll leave it alone for now.

Thanks! My 3500 is running rough still, with a new carb just installed. I’m going to check the valve lash and the size of the jet. Hopefully I get good results. Let you know.👍🇺🇸

thanks for the info about it. good to know. would you have any idea where I can find a needle valve for this. mine has a noticable amount of wear on it and I hope this will fix the rough running I'm experiencing.

I have the 9500 version with 1000 hours that stopped running a few days ago. It wont crank and has a little compression. found that the top left rod came out of the spring retainer/keeper. Noticed a few days before it quit it was running rough and smelled strong like it was flooding. Hopefully nothing internal was damaged. Going to tear it down tomorrow.

my new pulsar running strange. Checked like you.did, think compresson stroke calls .007 intake .009 Exhaust could not get .004 either. Adj now I am seeing Champion gen video waits exhaust go down then check intake. Let intake go down adj Exhaust not sure which first so. Thought exhaust then intake goes down fuel thats comp? Any ways Champion has video. Does it make any difference?

Watching your videos on the Predator 3500 and found you were in the Reno area. We live in Sparks. I'm trying to get my 3500 running after the winter and I'm having issues. Do you work on generators to get them running?
@brentg62103 жыл бұрын
I have this issue with my predator running rough with low loads and at idle . But once it’s under heavier loads it runs perfect . I’m right at sea level so elevation is not an issue , should I adjust the pilot screw seeing how that controls lower rpm fuel mixture or should I go to a smaller main jet ?
@immortalengines16053 жыл бұрын
clean up the small pilot jet. also delate the spark arrestor make sure you get all of the screens out

My pred 3500 has 30 hours. Was surging on idle. I cleaned carbs fully, but didnt drain gas from the tank. The 2 issues I have are: 1. When I put my hand under the air box and push up on it a little the engine idle surges up and down. 2. On the display panel where its suppossed to have a green light and also show 125V, it doest go green and stays 0. After resting and restarting it showed 53v as the output. What could it be?

I have a Harbor Freight Predator 3500 generator. I have 17 hours of run time. Only 4 hours under 75% load the rest is exercising. I just started it for the monthly exercising, and it ran rough and I notice the volt meter only registering hours only, no volt or amp output on gauge. I did connect 2, 1800 watt heaters and it seem to run them, but again runs real rough. How to test this generators output? So, I know if it’s the generator or just the gauge? I’ve changed fuel, spark plug, check the oil, charcoal canister, air filter, removed the spark arrester, all looks like new. Help, Thanks

Hey bud. Mine is having a idle issue. It runs perfect un loaded. I have to start it and leave it almost at start and slowly work it back to run. When loaded. I have to leave it very close to the start position. If I go to run, it revs up and down. Any ideas?
@immortalengines16053 жыл бұрын
Yes you need to clean the carb sounds like a blocked pilot jet the tiny one on the outside of carb. when you remove it just clean the whole thing. the reason it seems to run "better when you turn the knob to start is because the choke is connected to that knob and it changes the air/fuel mixture for startup. however it is not supposed to run this way so definitely clean it. and don't let it sit with fuel when not in use
@xxskizzumxx3 жыл бұрын
If your still having issues, remove your spark arrestor and try running without it. I only had mine a month and the arrestor was so clogged it would overload on anything over 1k watts.
@canamxmr47603 жыл бұрын
@@xxskizzumxx thanks for the reply. I ended up breaking down the carb and it had a lot of trash come out when I cleaned it. Put a fuel filter on as well. So far, as long as I let it warm up and slowly go to run, it no longer has the issue.
@xxskizzumxx2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud, if you see this. Thanks for the videos. Mine starts fine, runs for maybe a mibute and dies. I go through that several times and then it'll start running fine. Does that sound like the float in the carb? It's only a couple months old and I feel the carb shouldn't be sticky yet. I dunno, what you think?
@immortalengines16052 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, you're right could be a sticky float. Maybe take the carb apart and clean it and see what happens. When you pull it out. Check the fuel flow from the fuel hose by turning the valve to start and see if it's unrestricted.

I had this problem but found out the carb bowl has fallen out completely at the bottom of the generator! I put it back together and all is good. I guess the screw got out with the vibration.

May be a silly question but, doesTDC on any particular stroke work? Isn't it usually something like on the compression or intake stroke??
@immortalengines16053 жыл бұрын
top dead center is when the piston is in the compression stroke and both vales are shut and the piston it's at it's highest. you need both valves to be completely shut in order to adjust them accurately
@rickbraden42724 жыл бұрын
Even if your push rods were slightly bent while your valve lash is correct, how could the valve timing be off at all & create your problem?
@immortalengines16053 жыл бұрын
if they are bent it means they shortened themselves therefore opening slightly late and closing slightly earlier than they should

If the throttle mechanism on the carb is very smooth and isn't stuck then it's probably a bad inverter board

What does it mean when theres oil going to the air filter ?
@immortalengines16054 жыл бұрын
it means that it's either overfilled in oil or that the air filter is so obstructed that the engine is trying to pull in air through the crankcase vent hose.
@xxskizzumxx3 жыл бұрын
Usually too much oil. It's easy to overfill the oil
