Best video on this issue I have seen! I just melted my rear center driveshaft on my brand new 4S Kraton. First run on grass only 15 minutes. All signs lead to loose slipper.

Thank you for making a quick to the point video... This is a great technique to properly set load on slipper assembly.. great job!

Lol. Guess I should have looked up this video when I was making adjustments to my slipper. I bought a Typhon 3s used and it didn't come with the manual so I was playing it by blind eye. I have 16 RCs and all come apart differently but I took the Typhon slipper out in a similar way to all my other RCs. Didn't realize that adjusting the slipper was that easy. I've only used it twice thus far. First run broke the cheap "aftermarket upgraded" shock shaft. When the guy sent me the Typhon, he also sent all the spares and parts that were swapped out so I just rebuilt 2 stock shocks just to run it. The second run the slipper had come loose and ended up pulling the top of the diff case off to try to get the trans out. Lol. What got me doing it that way was a lower skidplate was installed and didn't realize there were so many screws under it, After I seen how everything came apart, I realized I took way more apart than I had to. All I would have had to do to remove the slipper was one screw on the bottom, pull out the trans tie in bracket and lift the clip and pull forward. Now I know I wouldn't have even needed to do that. Lol. At least I know how the entire rear end comes apart now which I hadn't known before.

lol well at-least you know now🤙. They are very easy to work on once you figure them out. Have fun bashing it bro!

Thanks for sharing. The manual isn't very helpful but this video is. The 3s Arrma line is a snap to work on when you know the tricks. You make it look easy and removed the driveshaft like a pro. Great video. 👍👍

thanks for this video, using the drag and hold technique on a completely different vehicle but it's still the easiest way. I guess the surface you drag across will determine how tight your slipper is
@theRCelement23 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the surface does make a difference, best to do it on something grippy

Good video. I thought something was wrong with mine because it doesn't roll as easy as vehicles with a center diff. The noise it makes made me think something was broken.

Picked up one of these typhons. I changed the arms to RPMS but now when i roll it forward and back by hand it crunches and feels like it doesnt want to roll foward but will with a little bit of force... cant figure out why it doesnt roll smoothly. Kind of wondering if you knew any videos where i might be able to figure out how to fix.
@theRCelement3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have stripped your spur gear. Could be many other things though 🤔
@ukfieldninja87302 жыл бұрын
@@theRCelementbeing a noob i had just got the typhon out of the box and immidiatly changed the arms... i didnt roll it foward and back to see how the typhon transmission works... Having run it, i can see the typhon transmission wont just "roll" when pushed by hand, the driveshafts on the arms need force to make them turn I thought i had broke it before i rven put a battery in it... i was comparing it with is a ftx vantage 2.0 which has a different transmission system and can "roll" when pushed as it needs much less force to turn the metal bar driveshafts unlike the "slip in pipe" driveshafts on the typhon 🤦♂️
@CaptainCandycorn2 жыл бұрын
@@ukfieldninja8730 this is how mine was out of the box and it's because you need to set the mesh properly. They come insanely tight and it makes them unable to roll easily by hand. If you run it this way it will destroy the bearings/gears/motor. The first thing I noticed is how it doesn't roll easily, and after setting the mesh it rolls how you would expect it to.
@ukfieldninja87302 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainCandycorn cheer mate, i have been running it as is until today when i stripped it all down for the first time to cleaned it out.. i see what you mean about the mesh.. Running it hasnt destroyed the spur gear but the mesh is so tight the pinion has carved itself into it. I knew it didnt feel right to need such force to make the car roll foward ..

In my experience setting it this way is way too tight. When the wheel stop spinning you are fully tighten it. I like to set mine 2 turns open from fully locked
@theRCelement3 жыл бұрын
Two full turns out? Doesn’t that slip way to much for you? I have messed around with different settings and find this method is perfect for my Typhon and Big Rock. But hey, if that’s working for ya then go for it buddy 🤙
@yonicozac3 жыл бұрын
@@theRCelement the manual says 1.5 turns open from locked. But for me 2 turns doesn’t slip and i feel it’s working great. I have the car for 3 years already, never broke a diff or driveshaft (did wore down a diff though)
@theRCelement3 жыл бұрын
@@yonicozac I was curious to how many turns out this method actually sets the slipper. I took it apart to access the slipper assembly several times after doing this method. The slipper is actually set at 1 full turn out when the wheel lock up. You can still crank the screw in one full turn with the assembly in your hand. Good to know. So you are not far off from this method👍

@@theRCelement Interesting! on my Senton it actually locked the slipper all the way. i guess it depends on tires and the traction of the surface you do it on.. Maybe i put more pressure on the car when doing this.. i dont know
@theRCelement3 жыл бұрын
@@yonicozac Yeah, i’m sure it depends on the surface and how much pressure. Gotta love these Arrma 3s models though 🤙

Im not a big fan of setting it this way..the stock setting in the manual is 1 and half turns from fully tight . .I tried setting it the way shown in this video and i ended up stripping my rear diff within the first battery pack..how I set it it now is I just pop the power module out real quick and without disassembling it at all I hold the spur gear to keep it from spinning as I tighten down the slipper completely then back off accordingly. .1.5 turns from fully tight with new slipper pads seems to be perfect. doing it my way at least you know exactly how much it is set from fully tight.
@theRCelement2 жыл бұрын
I was curious to how many turns out this method actually sets the slipper. I took it apart to access the slipper assembly several times after doing this method. The slipper is actually set at 1 full turn out when the wheel lock up. This works well for my type of bashing. I run on dirt and don’t do anything extreme. So yeah, if you are bashing hard then I would back it out another half turn or full turn
