Thanks for this. I have looked at other videos on the same subject but all of them just seemed to assume I knew what to do at some stage or other. This one shows me every step and explains things . A much better tutorial than others I have tried.

You're welcome! I try to show the whole process, sometimes i will leave out opening or saving the project but I expect everyone knows that part. Everything else I always show.

Another great video from George, thank you very much. I have used lots of these techniques yet I always learn something new from you. One thing I did miss though, is the option to save the selections. I can't tell how many times it has saved lots of time, especially when the selections get complex.

Thanks! I normally use the save selection option if I have a need to come back to a selection again later in the process. But it can also be used as a safety while working on a complex selection.

Thanks Anne! And you are right, I am at this a lot. KZbin and my training courses are my full time job, this is how I make a living. Not a good living, but I am doing what I love and for me that is more important. I will be adding links to the step-by-step guides today and where appropriate I will start adding links into the guide articles.

I continue to learn by completing your projects. Question: Can PSE be used to make a PNG Direct to Film file? The company will then print it to be pressed onto a t-shirt.

It depends on the color system used by the company. If they want RGB files then Photoshop Elements can do that. If they require CMYK files then you would need a different program like Adobe Photoshop.

Great demonstration George. Out of curiosity, did you try using the "select subject" option?

Sure did, it missed half of the stuff on the right side. Not too surprising. Select Subject is great when the subject is obvious, not so good otherwise.

I have been using the touch pad on my MacBook for trying these techniques. Would you suggest I get a wireless mouse instead?

Definitely. Touchpads are great for simple tasks, but they lack the precision necessary for good photo editing.

I'm not sure why it's not working for me, I can't even get the two documents beneath each other in the layers, only either one or the other...

I think the problem is with how you are using the Photo Bin. When dragging one photo into another you need to grab the photo with the mouse and drag it into the other image. If you click on the photo and then try dragging it that won't work. That just switches you to the other photo. Try this instead. Open the dog picture, then go to the file menu, click on Place and find the other photo. That also brings the 2nd photo into the main photo project. thanks. the drag method still doesn't work but the File/Place method has enabled me to get both photos into the layers bar. I am used to Procreate which seems much easier to use!
