Step 1: don't be from a third world country, everywhere you want to travel will require you to apply for a VISA
@missviolettehour
@missviolettehour 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't think this video is very realistic. I'm not sure how realistic this is either but maybe you could apply for a Visa to the European Union and then travel to several countries that way? Applying for visas are pain and they can also reject them but I don't think its that expensive to apply. And you could go to cheaper countries like Poland and Slovakia that are close to one another. I know they are not what everyone thinks about when they think about traveling but I've been to Slovakia and I thought it was really lovely and very affordable . I've heard Warsaw is one of the nicest cities in Europe and is also cheap. Best of luck

That’s called poverty. Being broke by western standards is a temporary situation. Like you can be broke because you over spent but generally can get by on bills and necessities fine. Not being able to cover basic needs is being impoverished or poor.

Many people watch travel videos of all age groups. it seemed to me that her audience was supposed to be as old as she was when she started.. 18 or younger. She will learn from these mistakes.. I will say that it is not nice for people to rain bullets on her for pretty much repeating the same thing so many other "Travel-for-nothing" type videos. A better title would have lessened the negative reaction by so many.

Cut down on your bills then! Sacrifice on some things so you can have other things! The insane amount of money that girls especially spend on useless vanity products, tiny serums and concealers and shit, huge makeup and hair arsenals, and ridiculous amounts of clothes that they wear once and forget they have - those are the habits of sad, bored, unimaginative people, and its no wonder none of them can afford EXPERIENCES when they have so many THINGS. If you cut corners, don't get expensive hair products, get the cheapest of the cheap, scrimp and save, sell your old clothes and stuff you don't need, don't EVER waste money on takeaway that just makes you feel like crap and is insanely expensive, don't buy starbucks, batch cook your own meals at home to take to work instead of buying lunch out, don't pay an expensive contract for a phone you don't need when getting a proper camera is so much better, don't pay pointless amounts of rent just to have somewhere nice to sleep when you can live somewhere really cheap that forces you to go out more - you do all this? You'll have enough money to go to somewhere golden and sundazzled and splash out on EXPERIENCES that make you glow.

I don't tend to comment negatively. Either I have something nice to say or I don't say anything at all. But I need to say something here. I'm just so fed up with all these "travel with no money" videos. You all speak from a place of privilege. Everything you say applies to first world countries/citizens only as if they are the only ones watching or wanting to travel. You all keep repeating the same formula: wwoofing, work&travel, volunteering, pick up jobs along the way, cheap flights, stay in hostels, etc. For years, nobody has added anything new to this list. So why you all keep continue making these videos, repeating what hundreds before you have said, I've no idea. Also, as many mentioned, I find the way how you all keep using "broke" offensive to those people who actually are broke. And how the job opportunities you mention basically only apply to outgoing/extroverted/confident people. And I speak from a position of privilege as well. I am not broke because I have a job that covers my bills just so, happy I'm not adding to my existing debt. I have the best passport you can have and usually don't have to pay for visa applications. I live in a place with social security, good healthcare and access to cheap flights. And I still can't afford to travel. I can only imagine how videos like these must feel like a slap to the face to people who don't enjoy the privileges I do, much less yourself. It all comes down to this: You were lucky. You had a safety net to fall back on and money to start your life of travel or at least knew someone who could advance you the money (I couldn't prepay $6000 for anything now, let alone when I was 18). Sorry for this rant. I'm just so sick of all this appropriation culture and clickbait titles.

PRIORITIES, it’s all about priorities. When you want something there’s nothing that can stop you, she probably gave up a lot of things you are not willing to give up, so don’t make it seem like it’s impossible. You just don’t want it hard enough. It’s also about mentality, you just said all the reasons why you can’t do it, but she said all the reasons that made it possible for her to travel. Unrealistic for you? Maybe so, but she wants to encourage the idea of possibilities. You don’t know what she had to sacrifice, but what are you willing to sacrifice?! How much she had to learn, and what it took for her to become who she is now. Becoming what she is takes a lot of work both physically and mentally. If you really wanted to travel as bad, you would be doing so. So don’t blame the people who post this videos for your lack of ambition towards the things you “want” to do. No video will ever give you what you want to hear, sometimes you just have to go for it!! Good luck! @flipflop poet

@@delmyr that's victim blaming right there.... I guess poor people who work minimum wage jobs just don't "want it bad enough." If only they just skipped a meal to save up for that trip to bali! Poverty can be a hard cycle to break and travelling is expensive. Also having the right kind of passport can impact where you can go. Just ask people from third world countries who face racism and profiling. But i guess they also just don't want it bad enough. It's important to acknowledge our privileges and how fortunate we are to live in the life that we do. Often times people just don't have the means no matter how hard they try.

@AdrianLoganLive

@surprise toy city - I think it's irresponsible going your whole life never breaking the mold and just following the already outlined path because it's what people tell you is the responsible thing to do and never seeing what the world actually has to offer. No one who travels the world and experiences life in the greatest of ways will ever have regrets on their deathbed. I don't think people who work all their life just to buy a house and car can say the same thing....
@ulysse21

I think yoy're too young to realise. I was like you, but once you reach the 40s you start to think of other stuff... more serious stuff actually. You start you realise you maybe better have started earlier a serious business or job and saved money for your older days, when you will have to look more closely for your health. Having daily jobs without any future perspective, just to throw your money doing only what you like in a few days, then coming back again to any other job you don't like anyway, it's not just adeventurous, but also irresponsible. you may stay young in your mind all your life, but your body will remind you sooner or later that you can't live forever. Sorry for my english !
@AdrianLoganLive
@AdrianLoganLive 5 жыл бұрын
I understand your point, and I would agree that not considering options for retirement would be irresponsible. But that's not what we are talking about here. You can absolutely plan for retirement while also working and saving to travel over long periods of time. Keep in mind how much money you spend on rent/mortgage payments, car payments and car insurance etc which you dont have to pay for anywhere near as much while traveling. You can actually travel to save money as opposed to loosing it. Work 1 year. 9months of savings for 1 year of travel, 3 months of saving to contribute to retirement. Rinse and repeat. Most importantly. As she emphasized in the video. You can travel and work on a business to develop an income while traveling so you never have to go back if you dont want while saving. It's 2018 and there are many avenues and options for developing an income
@ulysse21
@ulysse21 5 жыл бұрын
oh Ok. Yeah, there are many options to develop income for a traveler or an adventurer. That's more intelligent than just limited time jobs. So you can consider what you spend on travelling as an investement. But I think what Madilyn Schroeder is talking about in her comment above is just spending almost all what she earns in travelling without thinking of the future.

@@Elvis-guy1973 saving 50K is so easy. Stop buying expensive products or buying things you don’t need. Also stop buying too much food etc. You can easily live with 40 dollars a month (food etc) Work every day at least 2 years. Try to reduce all bills and stop paying for services and other stuff you don’t need. Example paying 20 dollars for 10GB data. Stop doing that just go for 5 dollars with 2Gb Data for example. And when you saved up a lot of money and are planning to travel for years sell your car sell your house sell everything and store your belongings at your parents house or store it in a storage shed or something. After all this find cheap flights. Wait for deals and don’t be impatient. Just check random flights everyday until you find a cheap flight or an error fare. When it comes to stays don’t think too difficult. Even in expensive Norway you can stay at places for 20 dollars a day. If you don’t want to spend any money at all you can just make a tent and sleep in the wilderness. You could also rent a car and sleep in there. When it comes to countries in like Not Western countries you should stay in a hotel or something. But even then hotels are very cheap. Especially in Africa. Now how do I know all this? Because of the great couple with the KZbin Channel Karaandnate! What I just told you is actually their life. They are the living proof that this is possible and that it works.

BE BOLD. You can always find a typical "job". Remember you will regret the things you didn't do, life is short. Pack your bag, set a destination and all will fall in place. Life is crazy in a way where once you take the first couple steps and things start to fall into place. Be bold, be frugal, and enjoy the journey most of all.

I live in the US but I have the same mentality about travel. If I am going somewhere I want to really see it, not some weeklong vacation. I try to take a month for my travels abroad. Sadly, the job culture in America is typically 9-5 with max of 2 weeks of vacation. Month long vacations are rare. My travels usually require me to quit my job and come back to look for another job and usually center around life changes like graduating college.

When I was 22 (in 2009) I traveled to Turkey alone as a girl with a backpack and the way back I hitchhiked to Hungary. It was cheap and fun! 😎 I didn’t have a smartphone then, nor a camera. I had my oldschool phone and maps. 😅 Sadly, I didn’t think about documenting the journey, but I was enjoying it full time. 😁 In 2011, I was working in France as an au pair and traveled around the area before and after that (with my brand new little camera). 🌴
