This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Thank you Jake.

I picked up archery again after a long hiatus last winter, and fairly quickly got to a 260ish level at 18 m, thanks in no small part to your KZbin channel. The week before the outdoor season started, I shot a personal best of 538 and set a goal for myself to break the 600 mark at 70 m, something I had never done before. Then it just went downhill, rapidly. Despite shooting 72+ arrows three to five days a week all summer, things only got worse, hovering somewhere around the 540 mark most of the time. Then, moving back indoors again, I finally figured it out. I had been putting my sight pin level with the middle of the target at set-up position at 70 m, which meant I raised my bow shoulder significantly compared to how I had been shooting indoors, effectively breaking my "barrel of the gun" vertically and making it much tougher to control the bow weight and my bow arm movement. Dammit Jake, why didn't you post this one six months ago?!

Wonderful, I was struggling with it and increased my 10m hight made huge difference in my 70m.

Thank you very much! It is a very good teaching video.

I find that raising just my arm rather than tilting my torso seems to compromise the strength in my bow shoulder.

I have felt shooting uphill came much more natural then downhill. When shooting downhill I have always felt like everything is collapsing and falling apart. I will try the extreme open stance next time I try it and see if that helps. Thanks for the tips as always Jake... really helpful stuff!

“Move your arm up” that worked when I tried 60 yards for the first time. The first set most of the arrows went low, but moving a few inches up made a huge differences.

I usually have trouble with moving only my chest when elevating small amounts (vertical 3 spot). A lot of times i move only my bow arm.

Still working to aim and be consistent with my groups at 20 yards , distance will have to wait on my instinctive shooting ability ! For now I’ll just have to dream those long distance shoots ! 😁

I know what you mean. I started shooting about six weeks ago and am working at 20 meters. Some are good, many are so-so. I shot 40 yards earlier today and was happy to just get all the arrows in the target bag! Absolutely no grouping at all. But the arrow flight, with the flexing and arcing, was really cool to watch.

I don’t know if you have a video about torquing the string and how to know if you’re doing it and how to fix it… that would be a great video though. I feel like I might be torquing the string when I’m drawing the string to my face and not my head to the string.

Nice video. Jake! I have a problem of bow and draw arm shaking. Any suggestions.

I guess you should do some exercise to build up more strength. There are some good videos on this channel. Another solution would be to reduce your bow draw weight...

Reduce your draw weight dude, and slowly build your strength, trust me its work. Just move away any ego

What is your draw weight Jake? maybe that can be a reference for me beginner with 18 lbs weight

Hi, Jake thanks for this video. I've started with recurve this summer and am slowly progressing to higher distances. As I am mostly working on my form yet I'am shooting only 28lb bow. So as I am going for higher distances my sight settings changes are aproximately 2cm per 10m distance (in range of 20 to 50m yet). Am I right with thinking, that as I will grow my strenght and form and evetualy go for higher poundage bow, my sight adjustments and with that amplitude of posture change with distance will decrease?

Wow. You read my mind. This thing keep confusing me

Can you show an example of shooting blank bail simulating 70m ....say at an 18 meter distance.....actually shooting
@JakeKaminskiArchery4 жыл бұрын
I would miss the bale at 18m trying to simulate the 70m angle. I would say the arrow is easily 8-10 feet above the ground at that point. You must shoot at a bale around 3m and have it elevated to simulate 70m
@lynxfight3 жыл бұрын
Jake claims that it is small difference. If you shooting a 36 pound bow (like I am), it is not small.

So do we bend on rib cage, or waist?
@InFerrumVeritas4 жыл бұрын
Ribcage for target and distance, waist for field and elevation. Downhill is tricky.

I found harder to estimate distances downhill than uphill
@philipsturtivant93854 жыл бұрын
You are not alone. Estimating range by eye is a hard-learned skill, bedevilled by pitfalls - uphill vs downhill Line of Sight both affect distance perception, as do lighting and other factors. I was taught the basics about 50 years ago, soldiered for a while, got pretty good at this skill, to the point where it's so instinctive I can't now remember what I was taught back then. So - just for you - I went looking: this here KZbin video looks like it will help (it's for rifle shooters, but - trust me - it's the same challenge). There are doubtless many more that are better yet - go seek 'em out.
