I have used composition books for years.. I am a card maker so of course I dressed it. The light covered comp books, add a sheet of card stock and dress. I have added card stock on both front and back of the front and back.. that’s sounds goofy.. but I am so with you, if the book is to precious I won’t write in them. These you have made are awesome! The gussets are perfect for any pocket, these are perfect

Having just started using a comp-book to outline a novel and discovering they are a NIGHTMEAR to write in if you don't have desk space to lay them flat, and thus resorting to using a 3ring binder as a writing desk... I was hoping you'd have some way of making them more sturdy. Then I realised I could use this method to hide some cardboard between the paper and the old binding, effectively making the book a hardcover :D

I do the same thing. I have about three note paper journals, etc. My notes can be mixed up between them. What I have done is pull out the sheet that I may want in another note book and either tape or paste it in. I’m a hoarder of many crafting items. I even have a hard time giving my journals away. The memory that comes to my mind is the first days of returning to school (elementary level). I loved the brand new caryons❣️ I’m going to make these homemade journals to give to my friends and family. Thank you for sharing.

You did a nice job of making it "a pretty home"! 😀 I personally love using the poly covered comp books (7 1/2 X 9 3/4) to bullet-journal my day, and another to journal my dreams. The covers allow flexibility/ease of inserting in/out of my backpack, they last longer, plus they don't attract silverfish in storage. I still love the idea of decorating the front by season or subject & want to be able to do that, & while watching you, I came up with the idea of possibly applying laminated card stock to the cardboard covers with adhesive, OR, taking the covers off & sewing the lined paper into a separate laminated cover like they do a signature. Anyway, TFS your process! It was satisfying to watch & they turned out beautifully!

I love using composition books and I smiled when you said you had been hoarding that pad. I might have 2 of the pads myself, lol, and I actually scanned one so I could print out some later for further use. The last comp book I covered, I used a great quality gift bag that I got on clearance from Hobby Lobby.

So nice, beautiful!!! I take all my paperback books to the FedEx store and have them spiral bound. It is about $5, so may be more than you want to spend, but it allows me to lay all my books open flat. I'm not sure if it would mess it up with the black binding it already has - just wanted to share :)

New subscriber too...I have been doing these covers for more decades than I am willing to admit. I haven't reached the end of this video yet (time constraints on my part) but I find your methods to be perfect for my needs. I wanted to tell you that you can get various sizes of those comp books from walmart during the back to school period at the end of July. They even have half versions (literally cut in half). I always wait until the first week of school is in session because walmart is ready to move that stuff out. You won't find those different sizes normally...just back to school time. Stock up for a year!!

When using 2 sided tape or liquid glue and something glues down where where you don't want it, take your heating tool or blow dryer and warm the area you want to remove. Then slowly pull the paper up. It works like a charm every time.

Just found you in my search for help with a comp notebook project I want to do and thankful to have found this. Thankful not to have had to look any further. However, you alluded toward the end that you might come back to this project and add a closure of some kind and I wonder if that's something you've done in another video.
