Everyone has that pair of huge shorts they wish were smaller (because style 😂). This was very interesting! I definitely have a couple pairs I probably should alter like this.

I am very impressed that you taught yourself to sew there was one thing that you do that I was taught never to do to pull the fabric on the back side of the machine. Let the feed dog feed it through you may need to guide it but don't pull it. It may break the stitches or stretch the fabric. Not to be critical but you don't know what you don't know. The video was very helpful thanks

I'm so happy that you are a male doing sewing, alterations. Even if we are in 2021 this is still "a woman's job" but truth be told I suck at this bad 😂. I tried using a sewing machine before but the fabric just got caught up on the little crevasse where the needle goes. Brings me a lot of joy to see a lot of males in the comments.

Thanks for the comment! I’m still learning and not great at it, but I am trying to get better at alterations because it saves me a lot of money going to a tailor 😂 thanks again for the comment, this made my day 🙂

*Dang* this tutorial really helped me out a *ton* but those sewing skills are on point 🔥🔥 I've gotten so many pieces tailored in the past but have never really taken the time to learn how to do it myself. This gives me some inspiration to get my hands on a sewing machine because those tailor visits really add up over time lol. Solid tutorial and the altered shorts look great!
@kickitwithdang3 жыл бұрын
Pun game on point 😂 but yeah that’s why I took up learning to sew... I’m on the same boat where I realized I spent a good amount going to a tailor, and it can really add up. It’ll cost about $100 for all the materials, and some time to learn, but once you alter at least 5 garments, you’ll make your money’s worth lol . Thanks for watching !

I wish I kept some of my old shorts now. I had some baggy bangers lol. Mostly call shorts but they would be nice in today's style era if altered right. That's dope that you know how to do alterations man. My grandfather was a tailor so growing up I would always watch him sew and do all these alterations to clothes. It was cool to be around. I kind of wish I took it up a bit.

Nice! Jordan shorts are usually very baggy and/or lengthy lol . Glad this helped! Just be careful with the shortening part, it might not be doable with the jumpman logo in the way. Cheers!

This tutorial was super clear to follow, Dang. I was so engrossed by the process. How many have you altered? Baggy really was the wave. I think all of my athletic shorts reach below my knees 😄
@kickitwithdang3 жыл бұрын
I alter all my dress pants now :) it’s a money saver from going to a tailor since I’m picky like that, but it takes time to learn and do it lol. Baggy and below the knees is cool too 😎 just not for my chicken legs lol, thanks for watching !
@Empyreanabove Жыл бұрын
I can't understand how a garment that reaches below the knees can be even called ''shorts''. Women don't call skirts that reach below the knee 'mini skirts'. The clue is in the name. What many American men call shorts, I'd call baggy, cropped trousers.

This was great. I do know how to sew, but not so much in altering my pre-made items. I want to fix my pjs set as I got the last sale item, which the pj bottom is 2 sizes way too big. lol I would comment though that if you are altering stretchy material, do not sew it as you would sew regular cotton fabrics. Otherwise, the stitches will break when the fabric is stretched.
@kickitwithdang2 жыл бұрын
Yes great tip, this tutorial is more so generic, so I should’ve mentioned that different fabrics and types of threads should be considered depending on the garment being altered. All in all, you still can save a lot of money by buying clothes on the sale/discount rack, and then tailoring them to your own body type. Thanks for the comment !

Great video. Thank you. I'm pregnant right now so it's hard finding sets that fit. Maternity clothing is too expensive. So I buy 3x sets. The shirts fit but the shorts are obviously huge. Could you tell me the stitch you used?
@kickitwithdang3 жыл бұрын
I just used the default single lined stitch, i think it works for most simple garments! With other fancier fabrics like silk or denim, you might want to refer to your sewing machine manual - they should list which stitching pattern / thread is best to use for your garment and situation. Thanks for watching and congrats on the baby !

Pin pins horizontally. You can sew further without stopping to remove pin. I just slow down at the pin my 1984 Home Economic teacher said I shouldn't sew over them. It works my way.
