Never seen one reconstructed like this before. Definitely unique compared to the usual eagle-like reconstruction.

I can tell just by seeing it that you never referred to any skeletals put together of the animal. I highly suggest you find some skeletals to work with, because your animation work is absolutely gorgeous and it's got me at odds.

Well he said it's supposed to be a GMO'd pheasant, so I think that's why it looks unusual. He showed a glimpse of one he made before that had a much more regular facial structure.

How funny is it that I've happened to stumble upon this while writing a story featuring terror birds that I want to adapt into a film? Mine were made by injecting sterilized emus with the primordial germ cells of Titanis. There's a company planning to bring the dodo back that way, it's crazy stuff. But nice work! Love the compy, too. But would it be fine if I were to use your model as a template for my terror birds if I ever do get around to making a short film?

Can I just say, as a paleo/biology nerd that I actually really like the concept of a bald head on a terror bird? We don't see that a lot but it would be very logical. Vultures have bald heads because they have to dig into carcasses. Terror birds usually hunted small prey, but would definitely eat carrion if they find it. Getting their head into American megafauna would be a lot easier with a bald head! Side note: can I just say that the acting at 5:42 is seriously on point? Like, that's better CGI/actor interaction that I've seen in some films! The way you twist there makes it really look like the terror bird is actually biting you!
@catpoke95579 ай бұрын
The main reason vultures have bald heads is because they rise and fall when flying very often and need to have a good cooling and heating system to prevent temperature regulation problems. Their bald head allows them to control their temperature very precisely by tucking their head into their feathers, or pulling it out of them. Not to say terror birds couldn't have had a bald head for similar reasons.

I just started learning how to Animate and using Unreal Engine. How do I change a static mesh to a skeletal mesh so I can Animate it and how do I add bones and move them around to set them in the right place. What am I missing I been doing this all day using a dinosaur asset from sketchfab what should the file be FBX. As you can see I'm very new to all this.

No, the only species of Smilodon that was around during that time was S. gracilis, the smallest species of Smilodon. S. gracilis was far too small to compete with Titanis and other Phorusrhacids. The real reason why the terror birds went extinct is because of climate change and loss of habitat.
