Pretty cool to see how you can use paints to give it the anodized look. 5:05 Wow! This effect came out really nice. MG OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon (EW) looks good with an anodized painted custom. I'm actually surprised Bandai hasn't made an RG OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon (EW) yet. MGs are great too, but I feel like RGs have more benefits like few parts, take up less space, cheaper to buy, and sometimes they are better designed & more stable than its MG counterpart.
@Curioventura5 жыл бұрын
Actually many RGs have just as many, if not more parts than MGs. I prefer the larger scale to work with though
@xxnike0629xx5 жыл бұрын
@@Curioventura I can see how most people prefer the larger scale & pieces of an MG. But something about RGs just get me more excited. I think the fact that the parts are smaller makes you more focused and pay more attention to things.

How well can someone do this with just brushes? I have an Epyon I just finished building and wanna paint it. This would be my first paint and I would like to start off with brushes. Also, Epyon needs way more customing love here on youtube. It's such a great kit and looks amazing out of the box. I'm surprised there aren't more custom builds on youtube.
@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
I've never tried it with brushes but considering the nature of having yo get completely smooth, even glossy finishes for this to work right or matte clear finishes (depending on what you're trying to accomplish) I'd imagine it would be difficult. Try it though. You've nothing to lose and may learn something new In the process. I 100% agree about the Epyon. I'm glad to have done my small part lol

Hi. Ive found your videos really interesting. Right now Im trying the candy look. How ever its strange because with the red Ive got a good result but with the green Im really strugling. The finish is not even. Any suggestion? Also. What pressure do you use with the clear colors and with the top coat?
@themetatron19873 жыл бұрын
quick question when you say you can never touch it with bare hands does that mean you wear gloves while building/moving it for like ever or can you touch it when it fully cures?
@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
You just don't want any oils from your hands getting on the surface before you paint because that can cause issues with paint adhering

Could I do this with a evangelion kit using clear purple and If I want the to keep the look of the clear, should I coat it with clear gloss if I don’t want the anodized look?
@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
The clear purple should already be gloss
@JoeySchmoey25 жыл бұрын
I forgot to ask, but do you prime the pieces first or would that mess with the candy/anodize look?

Not all the time. You can do so if you want

Will it work in reverse for painting my tamiya polycarbonate body?
@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not. The main thing is the exterior will have to have the clear coat on it. You'd have to wet sand the exterior with 1000-1500 grit uniformly, then spray the clear tint on it. The sanding coupled with with clear should give a durable enough finish

So for the red/maroon parts on Epyon did you just use a metallic base>Clear red>Clear coat? Or some other type of mixed red? And we’re the black parts painted the same way? I’d like to use this method on my PG strike freedom so I’m just wondering how I can use this properly.
@Curioventura5 жыл бұрын
Yes, i used a gunmetal base, clear red (it is the clear coat), and then a flat clear over that to give the anodized look. The blacks are actually a custom carbon blue that i mixed and clearcoated in a semi gloss clear. Theres more pics of the build on my Instagram page @curioventura. This method would look awesome on that PG kit!
@JoeySchmoey25 жыл бұрын
So then would you anodize or candy coat the white color? I know it’s kind of based on opinion but I’m trying to imagine how either style would look with white and I wonder if it’s even a good idea to try.
@Curioventura5 жыл бұрын
@@JoeySchmoey2 it would have to be a metallic or pearl white.

I'm not understanding what you mean by hotels. Typo? The spray paints aren't the same if I recall as far as chemically. The spray patter will be different as well but I don't know people use them mostly for painting RC cars/trucks. Give it a shot

@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
Abs and poly are very different when it comes to prep work. The abs stuff you should wetsand with 800 grit before you paint it as its usually very smooth with no means for the paint to grab onto. Usually leads to flaking
@williamluo17863 жыл бұрын
so how do you get a matte black anodized finish?
@Curioventura3 жыл бұрын
Gunmetal metallic base, as dark as you want, coupled with multiple layers of smoke clear for desired darkness. Finish with a matte clear coat 😉
