Some very valuable advice, I used brushes for the models and with Tamiya, Vallejo and Testor paints. I learned the importance of brushes and smooth strokes and waiting patiently for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.

Most shoe stores have boxes of those disposable footies for people trying on shoes but forgot to wear socks. Same material and texture as generic panty hose and works great for this effect.

One question about the Tamiya.. I know you mentioned the bubbles already but what about the parts that still have that wet look, even though it's completely dry? Any idea what causes that? Is it from painting too thick of a layer?

I am currently interested in having a commission built and your video has given me a great amount of insight into what I should expect so again thank you for the time and effort you put into making this awesome video! I also appreciate your honesty in the pricing of doing a commission! I am happy to list my specifications for a custom painted gundam if you are still doing this type of work.

Thanks for the video. Yes, not all of us can fit an airbrush into our budgets...I'll also be using craft acrylics for the same reason & from what I've seen on videos, I'll have to prime a couple of coats then 2-3 thinned paint coats handbrushing. I guess 24hrs is cure time before next coat of paint eg Deco Art Acrylics?

Depends on the paint you're using but if it's acrylics, about 20-30 mins is sufficient.

When brush painting with any metallics, use paints that are primarily for brush painting. Otherwise the metal flakes will not be uniform and tend to puddle

Ok, stupid question, but, i'm starting to get better at airbrushing, i feel,and i have been using tamyia paints, and i LOVE them!, the question i have is, is the "clear red" paint, along with all of the other "clear" colors, already have a "clear coat" in them, like, is it the same as a final top coat, i wouldnt have to put a "clear" top coat on my model, if i use one of the clear colors? hope this question doesnt sound too confusing.
@Curioventura9 ай бұрын
You're correct; the clear coat, colored or not is the top coat. If you don't want a glossy look, you can throw matte clear or semi gloss over the colored clear

I started doing comms for a guy I met at my local shop as he wants Gunpla to display but his age and eyesight hinders him from building so he has me do it. Since the shop owner is apart of this operation he handles the money. However this case is special cause I’m selling a PGU and the guy wants to buy it and have me build it. And since the shop isn’t involved I don’t know what to charge. He liked the MG Dom I did for him, gloss coat painted weapons and panel lines, small details painted and nub removal and that was $80 Canadian. What’s a good asking price to build the PGU built with just basic panel lines. I’m not a pro but I’m definitely not a beginner. Would appreciate some insight. Thanks :)
