Your videos are very helpfull. If interviewer ask question "if large number of your students failed in your subject what will you do"
@KathleenJasperEdD2 жыл бұрын
In this scenario it depends on the context. Student achievement is always the responsibility of the teacher no matter what. The best answers for this are 1) Analyze the data and find out which standards the students struggled with. If there is a large number of students failing, then the lesson may have been confusing and you as a teacher need to reflect on the teaching that took place. Admitting this doesn't mean that you are a bad teacher, it just could have been many factors like a bad lesson, confusion among students, etc. 2) Focus on the gains that were made. If this were a scenario for a summative assessment, try and mine the data to see if there were gains made and focus on that. In either case, if you are asked this question always make sure to consult the data and make sure whomever is interviewing you knows that in a situation like this you are able to adapt (key word) as a teacher and work on improving student achievement.

This was the most realist video!! Thank you so much, my interview is tomorrow and after watching a lot of your videos I feel very confident !! As far as praising positive behavior, I agree yet when I took a Responsive Classroom seminar and they suggested that we shouldn’t celebrate when kids meet expectations, I believe it’s like 50-50; what do you think? THANKS AGAIN🙏🏼🤞🏼
@KathleenJasperEdD2 жыл бұрын
I am glad you are finding value in the videos. Praising positive behavior can be subjective however, I taught so many students that had disabilities, behavioral problems, emotional problems, etc. that when they did anything right we celebrated. In my opinion there is so much negativity surrounding students that a joyous, positive culture in my classroom allowed my students to relax and take pride in their work. What worked in my classroom doesn't necessarily translate to every classroom, but I will tell you I made gains every year with my students because I built up their self-esteem. Thanks for watching.

What are the best things to say and do when the principal takes me to a classroom to observe during an interview.
@KathleenJasperEdD Жыл бұрын
I would thank him or her for the opportunity to observe another teacher. This is a really amazing tactic, and not may principals take the time to do this. I would also identify one or two things that are really interesting and effective that the teacher does. You might say, "I really liked how the teacher reviewed the objectives during her lesson." Or, "This teacher has really good classroom management." I would NOT be critical at all. Do not point out anything negative. You are a guest, so mind your manners :) Hope that helps.

@@KathleenJasperEdD Thank you for replying so quickly. For two of my interviews the principal has taken me to the classroom to observe. In both instances, the classes had substitute teachers.
