Hi I just had my optometrist report rejected because my eyesight is outside of the army’s eyesight requirement on the grounds of ESE being greater than -5 or 6.004. But my eyesight correction states I have 20/20 vision but I’m literally 1 point over the limit. Otherwise I’m physically fit and able to meet the training requirements as for the role I’m aiming for the REME as a fabricator. I really don’t see how the fact I have to wear glasses and my ESE is only 1 point over the limit I’m being rejected considering if someone joined with a similar problem but say they just fit within the limits they would get in even though if you take there glasses off the would be just as visually impaired as myself

@@KyleSmithFIT would I address the backing letter "Dear Sir/Ma'am"? And when they initially see your medical form and send the rejection, is that because the doctors at Lichfield just see certain conditions and that triggers the "rejection" category? Is it quite black-and-white at that stage? With the appeal, do doctors actually properly read what evidence you've sent in to counteract their decision?

@@nkotecha25 yeah when you get rejected they don’t dig into your records, when you appeal they look further at the evidence. Hello Kyle, I applied to become an Officer and I was medically rejected due to a past ACL reconstruction, I understood that there could be a chancce that this would definitely be an issue. I went through the entire appeal process and did exactly what you have mentioned in your video before actually even coming across it. I got to the level 2 appeal and had evidence from my GP and even surgeon with X-rays, letters and other evidence that the surgery was a success and I had made a full recovery but none the less, this wasn't enough and I have set my views on a different future. But it still bugs me and I don't want to give up as I have been preparing physically and mentally for the past 4 years to join his majesty's armed forces. I even have proof of current serving members that have the same issue as I have but are deemed fit to serve. I'm a bit lost as I had originally intended for a career in the armed forces even if it was not starting out as an officer. Any feedback from you would be much appreciated, cheers.
@KyleSmithFIT10 ай бұрын
I’ve had ACL reconstruction my self mate, I would guess the reasoning behind the rejection is the strength of your artificial ACL is around 60% the strength of your original. They probably rejected you because there will be a high probability of it going again given the army training, weight carrying etc.

For those who don't know CAPITA grade's you based on the armed forces medical standards. If you are graded p8 (unfit for service) on medical condition that you were unaware about but not serious. Hi Kyle. My son has just been rejected on the basis of his ADHD. Reason given he needs to be symptom and treatment free for 12 months. He hasn’t taken medicine since aged 16, he’s now nearly 21. He did ask his GP to be referred for support for this back in March last year, although the GP did not do this until August which they put on his medical information record. We plan to speak to his GP asking for this information to be corrected and will send in his appeal. This referral was never followed up on as he changed his mind and felt he managed well daily without support. My question is how can we prove he’s ‘symptom’ free because this will never be the case with ADHD. It is something he’s grown with and manages. It does not impact on what he does, he lives independently and always worked without issues. It’s never stopped him from doing anything. In fact he can be more focused and driven because it. He manages his ADHD without medication and the structure of army life would be perfect for him. Can you offer any advice? Many thanks
@KyleSmithFIT3 жыл бұрын
You need to speak with his GP and get him to write you a letter confirming what you have just said. This will then shorten his deferral till march if they accept it. I would also ask him to write you did not follow up with the referral, this may get the deferral removed completely but I very much doubt it. Also ask his doctor to write on the letter that he is symptom free, hopefully he can do this for you. This is probably the only way to confirm it. You could also require his GP to see a specialist to confirm he has no symptoms, but this would probably take a long time. Basically the GP needs to be on side and to write a really good letter, this will give him the best possible chance of getting things overturned. Hope this helps, good luck.

My situation I’m in the army atm however the messed up my medical and have to do it again. In my NHS record, I have a clean record however on my private record I saw a private doctor for counselling and he said I had anxiety and depression and suspected I had Asperger’s (never diagnosed with both NHS and private). He also gave me anti depressant’s. However I disagree with this private doctor and also, this happened once in 2017 when I was 17 years old (I’m 22 years old now) so this was over 5 years ago. I have no history of self harm or suicide attempts either and this was just the once. However my army doctor wants my private letters and god knows what they say. What should I do? At this point I have not failed or passed the medical

Hi, I got rejected from the army due to a 'clear history of lower back pain with scatia pain.' From my memory I only had one well documented injury which was last year when I was lifting weights. I was lifting weights and felt a pull and had pain for 3-4 weeks. I had an MRI scan and all tests, they all came back clear. The pain cleared up and I have been fine since. I am a boxer and athlete, I train 6 days week, and have had no pain to the point that I had completely forgotten about it until the army brought it up. From a non-medical standpoint, what are my chances with the appeal? Also, can I email hyperlinks to video and pictures showing my physical capability, since I am a very fit person
@KyleSmithFIT Жыл бұрын
Go to your doctor mate, ask him if you have any other history of back pain other than the one you mentioned, if he says no get him to write you an appeal letter. You should be able to get it over turned if it’s just as you said.

Hello, I received a PMU 4 months ago for '4K.50.c. Candidates with any episode of chronic back pain lasting 12 weeks or more are normally UNFIT' (issue was over 5 years ago... so frustrating), there was no time frame mentioned in the original letter, so I've taken my time to build a strong appeal. It includes a doctors letter, the physiotherapist that treated me for the issue and a 13-week exercise diary. Regarding submitting my appeal I can't find the email address on the PMU letter, my exercise diary is an excel spreadsheet so this cannot be posted. Any advice? Thank you!

Ummm, I’m not 100% sure mate. I know that ACL surgery never gives back 100% of the original ligament strength (had it myself). This maybe the reason why you cannot get past the initial stages, if I was you would just call your local armed forces careers office and see what they advice. @KyleSmithFIT3 жыл бұрын
ok, this is normally something quite easy to get overturned. Firstly have you been using an inhaler or been prescribed one over the last 2 years? If no, then all you require to do is go to your doctor and ask them to write you a letter confirming you have not suffered with any asthmatic problems since.... If the doctors are being a pain just keep on at them, they are required to do this for you, sometime you may have to pay a fee of like £15. If you have been using an inhaler, you need to go to your doctors and cancel the prescription and get him to write on your medical docs you no longer require it, from then you just need to wait for the deferral period which i am sure is 1 year now but maybe 2 years, this has just recently changed. hope this help.

Hi mate, I was recently deferred for further medical evidence, due to a broken leg and low mood, they sent me some forms asking for more information, but the only information I have is the one they have already received from my medical records from my GP. I’ve been honest on the forms stating the low mood was from a grandparent passing so it’s bereavement and my leg is good to go as I’ve got my surgeon (ex MO) to write me a letter. This isn’t an appeal but I’m unsure of what further medical evidence I can supply on the low mood front? I was medically discharged in 2020 after serving 6 years, due to my leg but that’s now been overturned and am able to join again but they still want further evidence? Any help would be much appreciated mate, Cheers

I don’t not suffer with pain or anything that stops me doing everything in fitness or weight. I can 100% carry out all military tasks without anything stopping me. Umm be very hard mate, I have also torn my ACL. The problem is when it’s torn it’s is never as strong or stable as it normally is. This will probably be the reason for the bar.
