My doctor just today sent off my medical records, alongside a letter outlining a medical condition that might affect me joining (1 case of depression and anxiety) - he basically confirmed that they were linked together, explained in the letter how long ago it was (3 years) , how it is a one off, how there was a clear trigger and how he has no concerns about me joining as it isnt an existing medical condition. I'm hoping that this proves useful to save the hassle later down the line! Your videos helped me explain the template to him, so thank you and fingers crossed!

Hi Kyle. I was influenced poorly as a kid and had a rough upbringing, I self harmed and have scars. It can be said that it was all in one sitting. I understand the army has to be strict on this stuff however I grew out of that and have been a stand up citizen and working man since, with character and working references as required all I want to do is be in the army, we all make mistakes and I am gutted my immature and poorly influenced actions may stop me doing something I’ve always wanted to do.

Applied a couple of years ago and was rejected due to having a very mild nut allergy, never needed an epipen, never went into anaphylactic shock, can eat foods that may contain nuts, even if I eat a peanut or something the reaction is very mild. Hello, I am looking to join the army, but I may have a medical condition. I haven't been formally diagnosed, but my back is not symmetrical on the Adams test, which could indicate scoliosis. However, I don't experience any back pain, and it doesn't affect me in any way. I can squat, deadlift, and carry heavy weights without any problems. Will this be a barrier to entry?

Hi Kyle, I applied back in 2021 however I was PMU’d because I needed surgery for my cleft palate. Had the surgery and then passed a UOTC medical (army medical with Sandhurst) and then months after that I got an email saying I am FMD (I also got negative for sickle cell). I have not been to the Dr’s since my last medical (my GP told me this and said my info is the same as how it was in 2021). However this March I left UOTC and reapplied. I’ve just been told that I have to appeal my first ever medical (because my UOTC medical doesn’t count for anything because it’s not on their system). How worried should I be?

Hi I am a bit late finding this video so I hope you will still see this comment. I have always had glasses and have quite a ‘strong’ prescription(-5.5 and -7.5 ). I will always need to be wearing glasses or contacts. Is it common to get a rejection due to prescription. However, I am not colorblind and have never had any medical trouble other than going to opticians regularly for glasses.

I used to have a leg issue that required me going to hospital semi-regularly for physio and stuff like that until around 16, but since the pain I used to have has stopped and my leg is fine, and I do not require the hospital visits anymore and I havent visited them in some time. Hello Kyle, quick question if you don't mind. Let's say I get deferred due to a knee problem, that doesn't persist anymore, it was years ago, just a mild cartilage damage, there's a chance that it healed up completely since. (It was more than 2 years ago.) My knees are fully functional since, not a single pain, nor any limitations or any issues. My question is, is there a chance that I'll get the L2, so the best grade as possible after deferral if I appeal? I am planning for Paras. Also, I even received physio treatment after that. If I get deferred, how much deferral time could I expect?

Hi mate, wanted to join the Royal Marines but I have had 3 episodes on my record where I went to a doctor and the doctor prescribed me tablets for anxiety. which I never took, I am fine now and feeling great however I was deferred for 2 years from joining the infantry for having IBS, which I also have no symptoms for. do you think it’s worth re applying if I can get proof that my mental health has improved or would the 3 occurrences be grounds for rejection? Thanks mate!

Hi mate, It depends if the 3 occurrences are for separate incidents. So if it’s all based around one topic you could argue it’s once incident of poor mental health. And I don't have mental problems anymore. Should I mention this to my recruiter whilst their waiting for my GP to send my medical records Thanks

Hello, sorry for late reply. You could mention it mate, it won’t make much of a difference. They will check you medical records anyway and if they see a problem you will be either deferred or reject. It Will definitely come up on the medical but as long as it’s all good now you should be able to get it cleared with a doctors letter. @@KyleSmithFIT i had a look at the british army website and there was an attachment saying that people with SCT are currently able to join, though it does look like the medical procedure would take longer than others but i still have 2 years to sort things out lucky. im joining mpct this august then hopefully ill be going to AFC harrogate when im 17 so maybe by then things will be a little bit clearer

According to the army website having sickle cell trait doesn't disqualify you from joining, it's sickle cell disease which is a disqualifier. So you should be good to go.
