Finally, a teacher who demonstrates and explains perfectly the transition from breathing support exercises to actual singing! I have been doing endless breathing and warm-up exercises from various channels for weeks now but not really understanding how they would apply. I was hoping they would just miraculously improve my voice over time. Now, I understand it perfectly thanks to you, Victoria. It will take a lot of practice, but now I know how to practice effectively.

Really amazing stuff. I’ve been working with a great classical voice teacher who’s been doing it for 30+ years and have never trusted any of the so-called vocal coaches on KZbin like I do him. You’re the exception. You seem to have a great, informative, and applicable video about pretty much any vocal question I could have. I also appreciate that you always emphasize the importance of the whole body, and address issues of vocal health and longevity at every applicable moment. Thank you.

Some of my repertoire requires a lot of support. It took a long time before I got it to where it's basically ingrained. I can't think of a skillset more valuable for singing, for example Motown tunes. I still work on support during practice.

I found an interesting way to train this by accident: sing under the shower, right in the middle where it gets a little harder to breathe and water drops may cover your mouth as you open it. I was singing one song and because i become careful in breathing in as to not suck in water droplets, the air goes quickly directly from mouth-only to diaphragm, and i naturally try to preserve my air more while singing. My singing becomes more powerful, with better vibration, and even parts where i usually use nasal voice i can use diaphragm voice. That's honestly my best version of singing that song 😄 I need to do it more often so it becomes muscle memory because if not i will sing with nasal voice as usual

This video answered some questions I had after one of your other videos. Thank you. By the way, as a balloon twister, please know that the thinner balloons actually require more support to inflate. The ones that are 3 inches in diameter (called 360's as they are 3 inches by 60 inches) are much easier than the 2 inch diameter ones (260's). Some people have popped blood vessels in the eyes from mouth-inflating 260's, so most will use pumps. The common party balloons most people can mouth-inflate easily are about 10 inches in diameter.

@@Victoria-Victorious Yes, I'm thinking of it. I was also about to purchase your exercise course, but got confused as to which type of voice I need to select (because presumably you'll have the scales and keys according to the range of the selected voice type). Any advice on how to go about that?
@Victoria-Victorious Жыл бұрын
In answer to your question, each program covers 2 1/2 octaves in range. If singers are not sure of their voice type, I recommend ordering alto/mezzo-soprano for women and bass/baritone for men, especially for beginners. That is for lower to medium voice types, so unless you consider your voice to be high, this should work. If not, you have 30 days to switch to the higher voice category.

Hi Victoria, I am enrolled in your program and learning a lot. My biggest problem right now is mixed voice. I do not have a problem going up into head voice but I have a serious problem going down to chest voice. I took, over the years, approximately 20 years of voice lessons. For the last 15 years I have only sung in small church choirs. I stopped because of family responsibilities. I am now 75 and trying to regain some of my voice. I used to sing high b/s easily which would be nice to get back. I am up to a high g now. I did not used to have trouble settling into chest voice but now It feels like when I come down to around f over middle c it feels like I have, I guess, mucus under the top of my vocal cords that I cannot clear above that I have no problem . I can sing chest in a very heavy voice but I have not been able to figure out why I cannot sing through the change and get the "sound" of connection there.. Could that be a part of breath support collapse or my age? Thank you.

You are defiantly an Ace, and I find you and your techniques Fascinating! You explain first class and your passion is Full, I absolutely love that. I have always loved singing and especially that cry in a voice such as Elvis had that is SO full of emotion. I have learnt to sing exactly like that, But I am So so shy to sing in front of anyone, I sing low at church because if I sang out loud I think I may be told to sing quieter. I just couldn’t sing without singing with emotion. Meanwhile, I still have to work… and talk at least 15 hours a week on stop. I am a fitness trainer. Hi Victoria, thanks for such an amazing video. Love your intensity, sass and detail! I'm understanding the concept of support, but finding it hard to put into practice. I still feel like I'm using my throat (maybe lower throat and not so much upper) to help produce the sound and not 100% using the support. Is there some sort of feeling or sensation that can maybe "confirm" i'm using my support and not my throat to produce the sound?
@Victoria-Victorious4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing!! While support is vital to good singing, it is not the solution for everything. If your throat is tight to begin with, then you have to figure out where this tension starts. I have lots of videos on this. You could begin with kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJmxf6JsiLmaiqc. It could be due to tongue or jaw tension (videos on that too). You will know that you are making progress when there is a sense of ease in your throat while singing. I also recommend that you watch my video that is designed to be the first lesson, just to make sure that your overall approach is right. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXnCgIltrqp3nJY

Hi Victoria, thanks again for another great video. From what I understand, correctly applying breath support would help me with my problem of shaky singing in the lower range right? By properly restraining enough air flow while having steady exhalation would create a more steady tone in my lower ranges?
@Victoria-Victorious4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Reuben. This can be due to many reasons. This shakiness could be from locking the breath, tight abs, a tight tongue or the larynx too high. I recommend that you keep working on balanced and supported airflow and try the other exercises on my different videos. We must learn to be vocal detectives. :).
