How to Apply Differin Gel | My Differin Skincare Routine

I just want to mention that you should always moisturize when applying Differin gel. I didn't know that when I filmed this video of course. There are two ways to go about it. *Method 1:* Apply moisturizer to wet face, allow to dry, and then apply the gel. *Method 2:* Allow face to dry, apply Differin, wait 15-20 minutes, and then apply a moisturizer. I have tried both methods and I currently use method 2.

Also, differin is not a spot treatment :) You should apply it to your whole face avoiding the eye, lips and mouth area. I agree with the moisturizer- differin - moisturizer step as well. It is recommended by Dr. Shah. It’s the sandwich technique when using differin. haha! It works :)

first off your gorgeouss!! But just to let you know it is sooo important to moisturize after using the differin! I would recommend a simolt moisturizer like the cerve hydrating one! Dr Dray on youtube made a really good video explaining how to use it.

Nayani Sunkireddy Are you suppose to moisturise before or after using differin Gel. I noticed Dr Gray uses the cream formulas rather than Gel.. and she moisturises beforehand. Not sure how to the Gel formula should be used.

Lucy Maynard you should moisturize before as well. I just purchased the CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion and I apply it before the gel.

I believe you can. Just avoid using products that have vitamin C as niacinamide can affects its integrity.

@@VibeswithAdaoyibo From what I read online, the avoidance of vitamin B3 and vitamin C together was from a very old study in the 1960s. They tested this with an unstabilized form of pure vitamin C, which when in the presence of high temperatures produced nicotinic acid (culprit of skin irritation). However, modern studies say that stabilized formulas make vitamin B3 + vitamin C a teamwork combination. :)

Use the healing ointment before and moisturize well before the differen gel. The differen can dry out the skin.

By night cream do you mean a moisturizer? If so, yes. You should always moisturize when using differin. You can do it before or after it is up to you.

PLEASE READ! you're not supposed to put the differin gel on straight after washing without moisturizing first. it's stripping, damaging and irritating. it causes burns, peeling, extra acne flare ups.

Hi! You are correct and while this is true for most people, you can also apply a moisturizer after applying the gel. I have tried both methods and applying a moisturizer after the gel works for me. (I didn't know about moisturizing when I filmed this lol)

So if you want to moisturize after putting on the gel, you wait 15 minutes for it to dry then apply the moisturizer. You never wash off the gel after putting it on.

Use any gentle cleansers that you have but avoid acne cleansers esp those with salicylic acid, AHA and BHA :) The routine that I’m following is Gentle cleanser - moisturizer - differin gel - moisturizer. The simpler routine, the better and less irritation as well. Hope this helps! :)

Make you use sunscreen after moisturizing in the morning. You also need to get a cleanser without salicylic acid because differin is already an exfoliant and you might irritate your skin by using both at the same time. You could also use the CeraVe SA cleanser only in the morning vs morning and night. Finally, make sure your vitamin C serum is from a reputable brand and won’t cause any harm just because it says “whitening” lol
