I just started using this product (literally 5 minutes ago lol), I have very stubborn acne on my chin which has been there for years, I believe they are closed comedones. I've tried just about everything and nothing seems to work, I'm hoping the differin gel will. I also hear it's good for acne scars and texture irregularities, can you confirm? I've been using lactic acid and alpha arbutin (both twice a week) for 5 months- the texture has improved slightly but the acne scars don't seem to be budging Update: I definitely see an improvement in my skin since using the product. I only apply it once a week now as I found I was overexfoliating and my skin got super sensitive and irritated. My skin is smoother and my acne scars are fading. I'll definitely repurchase once I run out. My chin still hasnt improved so I'll be visiting a dermatologist in the near future to figure out what's happening there.

Yes differin gel over time can help with these concerns but if you have persistent acne you could look into your skincare habits, products,diet and overall health, because some of these could be the root cause.

Hello I have a question. I am 48 yrs old. I have used tretinion cream 0.05% for the last 2.5 yrs but have had difficult time dealing with irritation. I still have enlarged pores, texture whiteheads and hyperpigmentation which I thought would have improved after 2 yrs. Recently I purchased OTC Differin 0.1% my skin is alot smoother. So I contacted dermatologists she prescribed adapalene 0.3% can you tell me the difference between the higher and lower percentage? I have heard adapalene 0.3% is comparable with tretinion 0.5%. Will adapalene help with anti-aging.

While tretinoin is the gold standard retinoid when it comes to oily skin Adapalene is better. It is more lipid loving and has been shown is several studies to effectively treat acne. Adapalene 0.3% is the prescription strength and is more potent and equally more irritating. Apply a moisturizer before and after and see if the irritates less. Good luck 👍

Differin should be applied across the whole face. You start out once a week and work your way up

Hii, thanks so much for this, so helpful. I am definitely experiencing the purge as all my closed comedones are now pimples, I haven't broken out in unusual places, just in my acne prone areas. I haven't experienced any excessive irritation or sensitivity but I am currently waking up extremely oily, more than usual, I know in the retinization period, it brings all the gunk, including excess sebum to the surface, is this what could be happening ? Hi so far I’m loving the Differin Gel I loving my face . But also I noticed the corner of my nose feel little bit dry . This is night skin routine since I started the gel . I double cleanse (sunscreen I use or make up). I use elf holy hydration cleansing balm then La Roche Posay toleriane purifying foaming cleanser ( for normal to oily skin) then pad dry my face then Niacinamide dew drops from Glow Recipe and wait until it absorbs then apply the Differing Gel and wait until it absorbs then apply my moisturize from La Rochay Posay toleriane (double repair Mayte moisturizer for oily & combination skin then wait until it absorbs and apply another moisturizer from Glow recipe . And when I don’t use the gel I use an exfoliating mask. Am I doing it right ? Should I use only one moisturizer ? How many seconds or minutes should I wait to apply one thing to another .

I think on the days that you are using the differin, you shouldn't use other actives like Niacinamide. This is what I have been doing and it has been working for me. Sometimes too many actives can irritate your skin, especially when you don't introduce it slowly.

Hii .. i just starred using Differin gel .. and i am the IPL hair removal user (philips lumea) and i read about it most dermatologist recommended that avoid Differin (or any type of retinoids ) 5-7 days before treatment and 3 days after treatment , so if i avoid Differin for about 10 days !! hello Dr. janet! I have a lot of little clogged pores on my forehead and the top of my head (im bold). I think they come from my tick always touchin my forehead. Step down on the frequency even more. Try using adapalene once a week and if it’s still really irritating then u can discontinue usage for now or switch to a product with encapsulated retinol like the cerave resurfacing retinol serum.

I can understand the feeling, with retinoids it takes time. They are not spot treatments so they work from within to the outside. You can expect to see results anywhere between 3- 6 months.

benzoyl peroxide could deactivate differin. you can use the benzoyl peroxide in the morning and Differin at night. and if your acne is under control, you mustn't have benzoyl peroxide in your routine.
