Generally, to qualify for EI maternity benefits, you need to have accumulated 600 insurable hours over the last 52 weeks through work in Canada and be residing in Canada. Leaving the country for an extended period during your pregnancy might affect your eligibility, so I would suggest you to check with Service Canada.
