Am I happy I found this before jumping down a rabbit hole 8videos and 3 hours later. Boom under 2 mins. Legit gold 😂! Does it become more dull with more white PVA regular tacky glue? I've got both just asking from someone who can teach you something in 2 minutes 🤘😊

I personally use Golden MSA gloss varnish, and it’s what I use to varnish all my acrylic paintings anyway. Gloss varnish helps the gold keep its shine 😊

Imitation gold leaf will if you don’t varnish it, genuine gold leaf shouldn’t... I always varnish both though 😊

I have a major issue with the gold leaf sticking to my acrylic paint so literally no glue is necessary and there's no way to really 'control' where it goes... Any tips??

Is your paint completely dry before applying the gold leaf? I always wait at least 3 days after I finish painting before applying gold leaf to allow the acrylic paint to cure and dry fully 😊

@@AliceLadkin yes, it is fully cured.. I even tried to varnish it before applying gold leaf and it sticks to the dry varnish too... I've tried a couple brands of leaf and I'm at a loss lol

That’s really weird, not heard of that happening before 😅 I understand it sticking to varnish, not fully dry and cured acrylic paint though. Sorry I’m not sure what to suggest. I use gold leaf from Jackson’s Art and mostly Winsor and Newton Acrylics if that helps. I’ve used lots other brands of acrylic paint and that’s never happened to me. Do you use any mediums with your acrylics? What paint and gold leaf are you using?

@@AliceLadkin I use mostly Liquitex and master touch acrylic... Its pretty thick and plastic like in texture. As pathetic as it sounds I've been using press and seal to mask off the painting and using a razor to but the parts I want to gold leaf, then removing the press and seal once it's applied. It works well enough but still not as clean of an application as I'd like and I'd also like to be able to do more sporadic application that the press and seal wouldn't really work for. I will continue to experiment! Lol. Maybe the Golden brand acrylic sealer I use before varnish over the stickier paint I use... 🤔 I'll let you know lol

I’ve never tried but probably wouldn’t recommend if you want it to be archival, the glue I mention is specific for this purpose and pretty reasonably priced 😊
