thank you for this video :) I've been watching your videos the past few days and i wanted to learn watercolours but you said on most of your sketching videos that it's better to start learning values first! glad i found your video about it. i have some graphite pencils lying around from drawing portraits before and i finally have some use for them again :D I also found some water soluble faber-castell graphite pencils in an artstore near me and i'm planning to get some and try them out

The Value picture is a great first step before doing your final drawing/painting. It enables one to better apply paint. It also enables one to compose a better composition. Value is just as important, if not more so, than color.

...a great tutorial........you are supposed to draw & paint what you see, .......in reality we see all the shadows and contrast, leaving them out makes for flat drawings, no depth.....they are hard to visualize sometimes, using the black, white and grey tones makes it so much easier to see.......
