I think the background works well overall. It's not "just green" in the background but it still allows the owl to glow. His feathers are so realistic!

So happy you got a feeling of accomplishment out of this and I hope you will let me just briefly make the case for quitting. For many of us, an art practice is a major healing modality because it’s a way to play. In that case, pushing through something that is causing frustration can be actively detrimental. Please remember to check in with yourself when having a hard time with art making (or any other play modality) and remember that walking away from a piece (for a day or a week or forever) is okay and throwing a piece away and starting again isn’t a failure. Working through a problematic piece is a terrific way to build resilience, and it’s also important to respect our limits.
