What if your in away mode, but have pets at home? Wouldn't they activate sensors and cause alarms?

Hi Tony. That's a good question. The Ring Alarm Motion Detectors use Passive Infrared sensors (PIR) to scan whatever room they're placed in. These detectors use heat to detect motion in the room, and when a warm body like a human or animal passes in the area it is monitoring (its field of view), the sensor detects the change. The PIRs used in Ring Alarm, however, are "pet-friendly." That means they have settings that are calibrated to ignore heat sources from animals that are approximately 30 pounds or less (at medium setting) and 50 pounds or less (at low setting). Ok I found it, so if I choose 60 sec entry delay, that means Intruder would also get 60 seconds before the alarm triggers? What if Intruder locate and destroy the home base within those 60 seconds and then there is no alarm?

This does not work for me. I have 60 sec entry and exit delays for both Home and Away modes. Works for exiting but not for entry. As soon as I open the door, the siren goes off and terrifies our pets until I can get the system into Disarm mode. I've tested this multiple times with the same result. Why is it doing this?@@ring

I just got my ring indoor, I already have two rings for garage and front door. How do I unsync them (if one detects motion, ALL of them alert, also what if I just want outside rings on but indoor on only sometimes??)

Hey, Dee. That is a great question! We'd be happy to provide you more information. The Ring Alarm Keypad has a rechargeable battery, so it doesn't need to stay plugged in at all times. The Ring Alarm Base Station does need to be plugged in at all times as it only has a 24 hours back up on the battery.

@@ring Why not add a toggle in your ring app to allow user to setup which one should get "delay entry timer" and which should not -- such as a window sensor (assuming the home owner normally don't enter their house through their windows). As it stand now, I just setup earlier and somehow your app understood that it will allow front door to not trigger alarm while garage door and rear door does -- and did trigger an alarm going off. I normally goes through my garage, so it would be helpful to have a Delay Entry on that. Which I haven't been able to figure out yet. Help?

@@ring While your Delay Exit is counting down, just open the door and exisiting the house trigger an alarm .... what's that about??? Should definitely try it out and fix any bugs, because sometime you don't have your phone on -- dead battery -- etc, and that would definitely cause an alarm to go off.............

You don’t HAVE to but there are caveats to not having the subscription. You only get live time alerts so if something is happening around your home, your ring camera will not record the activity nor notify emergency services for when a break in happens unless you are on a subscription plan. Maybe contact customer service to see why your system isn’t working.
