Having read some comments below and being in the UK, we tend to have alarms to deter burglary attempts rather than act after the event. It's always going to be easier to break into a neighbour that has no security than one that has. It's not going to stop it, but just make it slightly more uncomfortable for the thief. Hence, we like to advertise that we have an alarm and them over the road haven't 😉.

If you have an echo you can use them as glass breakage sensor using the guard feature. It is free with the professional monitoring.

Yep, I’m aware and do use that feature, but it’s only a 50% solution. Unfortunately it only works in “away” mode. I’d like it to work while my alarm is set to stay mode as well. I’d honestly rather know if someone is breaking into my house while I’m asleep rather than when I’m away.

I like the function of the siren but the Ring logo is too prominent. I have the reasonably sized Ring stick-on decals on all of my entry points. I figure that serves as enough deterrent. IMO, they should make the siren with the functionality and without forcing people to turn their house into a bill board for Ring.

I think it has mainly been designed for the UK market. In the UK it is very common for outdoor siren to be big, brightly coloured and have a very prominent logo on it, some people even put fake ones on their house. I saw one of these in person today too and in comparison with the other sirens on the surrounding houses, it was actually the smallest

@james wolf - I agree! The look of this is a deal breaker for me! A more aesthetically pleasing look would have been significantly a better choice. I predict sales will indicate this and hope a chance will be made I the future.

I agree. I also don't think that the "ring" logo is very threatening to would-be criminals. At the very least they should make the logo more angular, capitalize the 'R' and add "Home Security" after it. Most folks still see the stylish little "ring" logo and think "video-doorbell". They should have made a separate subsidiary company on the home-security side with a different name altogether... something like 'Always Home Security', you know, quoting their "always home" schtick. I also think the base color they use, the sky-blue, is dopey. I have the whole ring setup myself, like 25 pieces of equipment including 3 spotlight-cams with solar panels, door sensors, extenders, 2 keypads, base, and a few other things, so I do actually like the gadgets and super deal on home-security monitoring (100 dollars a year)... I just think they ought to revamp some key things. Another thing, their cams are too bulky and toy-like; they ought to be more sleek and angular plus made of better materials besides plastic. Seriously, they should just hire me to take this company to a new level! 🤣

Ring sticker is not a deterrent to career thieves, lets make this clear since you may be clueless about criminals who live nearby at a cheap rent apartment or social housing 1 mile or less . If you louder in your home, all Alexa Amazon devices will ring a alarm annoying audible or Announce extremely loud customized to your liking. lol Bill Board? TheRing logo when illuminating on the Siren is well known to everyone who has a Amazon account , so when it flashes, it tells your neighbours and strangers your in need of help. no brainer, its not seen as a bill board , you have a wrong perception of brand messaging , how marketing works and especially the power of this Name Brand that is seen each time everyone goes to Amazon .

For me, because I live in California (which is unfairly generous to perpetrators and spiteful against the law-abiding), this sign would be great so that no home introducer can try to sue me or my family for any reason, and so that we can defend whatever actions we take in court by demonstrating that our house was most definitely not a target. Just heard one of these go off in my neighborhood and googled loud siren noises and this came up. It’s VERY loud. Woke up the whole neighborhood. Sound was on at 3am for at least 5 minutes. It was SO loud. Like… a fire truck or ambulance

Guess they discontinued this in the USA and Ring has said they are working on a new version but that was years ago and still nothing. Wonder if anyone else has found a good replacement. been thinking about opening up a keypad and wiring the speaker wire to another alarm as the trigger.

I'm planning to get the ring system again by October this year. Before I was going to get one but I didn't buy it because it has a bad design, but the 2nd gen was much better so I am going to buy the 2nd gen one. I will also be buying this.

Yeah, I've had 2nd gen since December and works good. Only issue I had is keypad icon on app saying not charged even when it charged all night. I had to remove keypad from app, then re-add it and suddenly it said it's charged and working again. So a small bug there you might run into but otherwise works great.

If someone is tampering with the siren panel I think it should sound the alarm along with the phone notification this way it would prevent the perpetrator from doing too much damage to the unit. If the owner is going to make an adjustment to the panel then one should have a way of turning it off before working on it.

That may be loud in an urban neighborhood with tiny lots like yours but it won't work around here where lots are 2 to 30 acres. My old school alarm system uses a compressor driver horn and can be heard a 1/4 mile away

can you do a review on a 3rd party accessory for security lights? the item is a "security light cage" its a steel cage put over an emergency light or security light and is usually used in high traffic areas where it protects the light from bumps, impacts, and vandalism....

I'm willing to bet most people will think it's someone's annoying car alarm & they'll ignore it. Other than that, I for one don't want to advertise what type of alarm I have, so I'd rather use something less conspicuous. I don't even use Ring's stickers or yard signs. To each their own I guess. We have many ring spotlight cameras in the yard. I want the alarm to sound on all cameras when only one camera detects motion. We can link the cameras but that only turns on the light I do not see how to make it happen. It would be nice if it worked through Alexa Routines would it be possible if we purchased Ring Alarm ? you advice would be appreciated.

What Alarm ecosystem do you think is best? Nest is pretty much done thanks to google. There was so much potential and since google acquired the company there has been no innovation and now they only make cameras and base stations that no one wants. Started installing some ring flood light cams and since nest is ending their security system support in April I was looking at the ring offering, but seems like there might be lack of innovation there as well.

If not I am wondering if there is a way to tap into the wiring system on this one and attached a second siren? Or is there a way to have a plug / outlet trigged on when the alarm system goes off?

Most Ring owners either turn off or ignore their Ring notifications. I base this off of the Ring community App. It never fails every week someone in the community posts a video of some thug on their property stealing something and then 2 days later they post the video crying they've been victimized. Why waste your money if you're not going to use it correctly.

I like my ring cameras and flood light cam especially when liink with my echo devices. Meaning if they detect motion my echo device will announce it to me at night. I would weather lose some sleep than wake up the following morning and items in my car is missing or the whole car

It will go off whenever the ring alarm sensors gets triggered or you can activate it manually through the app.

ADT operates over here in the UK, and we have no problems with using this sounder. Obviously, you know more than me, but could it be more to do with stricter sound legislation in the US rather than ADT? Or maybe our laws around looking like something else are more relaxed.

I bought the siren but it doesn’t allow me to install. Do you know if I change the location in the app selecting a place in UK, it would let me add the outdoor siren? Neither here in my country, are available the 24/7 monitoring, so this won’t be a problem. Thanks.
