Andrew is the definition of him being a client and barber/stylist at the same time. He talked a lot but it all make sense. He may not be a precision cutter( he admit it ) but he can give a precise consultation.

This is soooo true!! I cut my hair short a few years ago and then moved away from the friends who were my stylist. I realized that I had no idea how to convey what I wanted and always ended up with a combover with a hard part. I then realized it was also in part because I was going to a trendy place that kind of just didn’t listen. Took a little bit to find the right barber/stylist that just listened and was comfortable to talk to.

Man, this is everything right now! I just started barber school and to be able to start thinking about hair like this at the beginning is so valuable. Thanks so much for making this content! I’m here for all of it! 🙌🏼

Man I really wish I could find a barber like you 😭 I live in Boston and go to the absolute cheapest barber I can find which is $30 a cut. He's a great guy, but the cut is never consistent, it always looks different, and he can't really get the cut right no matter how much I explain what I want or how many pictures I show him. I also don't know much about this stuff so I don't even know if my hair is capable of the hairstyles I find cool, I just wish I could find someone who'd take the time to analyze my hair and face features and help me find a cut that looks right on me. But I can't afford to go to every barber shop in Boston and pay $100+ for the fancy ones until I find one I like... Crazy how hard this stuff can be when it's such a crucial aspect of your appearance!

This is extremely informative and concise! This is also why I really dislike those haircut “diagrams” that show what guard numbers go where.

How do you feel about thinning shears on longer hair? I feel like it is a short term solution for a week rather than a longer lasting one. Is there a better technique than thinning shears?

Sorry about that. This was an older video, I was pretty new to doing these kinds of talks, not very streamlined or polished yet.

So many shit barbers out there. Every one I go to I say "What do you think would suit me?" as a test. They all say "Just tell me how much to cut off and I'll do it." And then I never go back. Do I have to spend £80 on a haircut to get competence?
