I will tell you how to ask for a raise. The same way I did! I kicked my manager's door open, shouted 'Give me a raise right now because I'm your best employee!!!!" It worked perfectly because once I found a new job I eventually got that raise from a different employer

I know from experience that you have to be confident when asking for a raise. When I first asked I was nervous and boss can sense that and basically I didnt get the raise I was hoping for. Next time I was more comfortable and also knew my boss more so I was able to tell him why I deserve a raise with confidence and I got the raise that time. Bosses can smell your nervousness and use it against you.

I was in a similar situation just a few months ago. My department head wanted to give me a raise to the max on my pay grade. But HR would not let that happen because of me being on the job for only 2 months full time. Prior to that I worked with the company as a contractor for about 6 months on a part time basis. So I had knowledge of the organization and how they function. I still ended up getting a 4% raise. Which I thought was fair for the time being.

if your employer/manager is a decent person, it doesnt matter how long youve worked there for. if its a low paying job ask right away. i asked a day after working one time for a raise, and got it. if you think youre worth it (and have some skill/degree to show it), ask..

It is so true. I asked my boss coming out of the office and asked if i could talk to him real quick. He decided to answer the question right there in public in front of the other co-worker. I Said "I appreciate the job but am looking to find a higher paying job. I wanted to ask if my pay was raised so i could continue to work for you instead" Without hesitation he agreed and the raise was set. You can almost positively manipulate people into giving you what you want. It's so easy. Be confident and give eye contact and of course be a genuinely good respectable worker.

These days, most (not all but most) employers won't give an employee a raise for being a good employee, or if they're making a lot of profit. They'll only give you a raise if they think you'll leave if they don't, and replacing you will be more costly than giving you the raise.

Labor, like any other commodity, has its value determined by supply and demand.
@ThePeterDislikeShow
@ThePeterDislikeShow 3 жыл бұрын
@@shentino true to that. But situations change --- meaning a change in the supply or demand. You might take a job that is grossly underpaying because of some mis-perceptions and then you realize your error. Maybe you were desperate at the time and that is no longer the case. Maybe the scope of work has changed or new hazards have arrived ... just like right now.

Dave only gives raises if you metaphorically blow him. The only time I've ever received a raise was when I said I would leave because I had an opportunity for more money elsewhere. Employers will do just about anything to avoid paying you, but replacing a guy who shows up and works, regardless of production, is always a gamble.

I don't live in America and I don't know which country you live in. But trust me, you always also for a raise in the manner Dave described irrespective of whether you mean a word of what you saying to the boss. If you threaten him, he may keep you for 2 more months (if you are not easily replaceable), but the moment he finds a replacement you are out (well, if you don't mind that and already are planning to take another job or if you are really highly skilled and can get another job within a week, then you can always demand the raise your way).

Sanal K Joy If you haven't done anything yet, I would seriously look at other employment opportunities willing to pay that much secretly and warn your employer that if they're not willing you play ball, that you're leaving for this better paying job, they'll either keep you and pay what you requested or you leave and have a new boss. but you also need to think of your current working environment and the average pay for your job. for example, if you've been working at macdonalds for 4 years flipping burgers without ever being considered for supervisor, ect. I would have advised you to have left that job 3 years ago and look for work elsewhere since you either weren't worth enough to the company to give a raise to or the position just isn't available and you need to move on in either case.

My boss "Idolizes" Dave Ramsey. All the managers are forced to be enrolled in Entreleadership and she trys to push it on all employees. It's rather disturbing how obsessed she is with Dave Ramsey. Dont get me wrong Dave Ramsey is very intelligent and earned where he is today. I just wander how many peoples lives were ruined by this "Christian"

11:11 Paranorm considering he's generally giving advice/education to you for FREE, to take it or leave it, and simply issued as guidance, not a single life was ruined. These people bring him a burning house and he has the ability to calm down callers and figure out their next step. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If you don't like your job, quit. But don't act like someone who gives advice is ruining someone's life. They can take it with a grain of salt.

Dave's advise is usually solid for the masses, but I will greatly disagree with him on owning credit cards and having a credit score. You can get credit cards with no annual fee with cash back on every purchase as long as you treat the credit card like a debit card. Dave is so against these and I get where he is coming from, but some people do have personal restraint from not over spending and building a credit score will allow you to get financing on very low interest rates and will enable you to make money from doing so. Having a high credit score can be absolutely free as long as you do your research, pay your bill in full every month, not over spend just because you can, and you get a better interest rate when getting a mortgage for a house.
