This was so helpful and I had the instructions from the FB site. I just made my first silk screen. I did iron it but there are lines in it. Did I not hear it enough with the easy press? I have a picture but can’t see how to attach it. Thanks!

Thanks, very informative. I do have a question about what setting do you use on the Cricut to cut the stencil?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 Жыл бұрын
You’re most welcome. Here is a video showing the cutting process. I use the Iron On setting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5fKc6p4l8l1fdE

I have so many questions. Would a household iron work instead of the heat press? Where do I get the materials needed to start making silk screens?

I can’t find the first 2 parts of this and I have 2 questions. How do you put the Easyweed adhesive on your Cricut mat, and did you mirror the design?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22617 ай бұрын
You can find the other videos in this playlist kzbin.info/aero/PL2_g2FikltoYRev8tHbcDLIx0Y4Xi09mA&si=KSRLZKzAwUpwL1J6 but to answer your questions: The carrier sheet side of the adhesive touches the mat so your blade touches/cuts the design from your adhesive. I don’t usually mirror when using htv because it’s one less step to do. It’s a matter of preference. If you mirror your image then your final stencil will be silkscreen on top. I can’t tell a measurable performance benefit to mirror vs no mirror so I choose not to for one less step.

Was this an example of the silkscreen cookie side down? What is the difference if the silkscreen is on the top of the stencil?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
This adhesive silkscreen is not very thick. I’m not sure there is any measurable either way with this particular material. I usually do not mirror my design which results in the silk being on top. I hope that helps!

Omg thank you so much! This is what I was looking for! So if I use my cricut easy press, do I just do it the same way? Same heat setting and time? Also, why do you press again after removing the carrier sheet? Do I have to do that if I am using regular, colored htv (everyday iron-on)?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
You’re most welcome! Yes, same time and temp if you’re using this material. Every htv material has its own recommendations but low and slow is best as you’re starting out so you don’t distort the silk. Direct, medium pressure.

Hello I was wondering what is the point of the silk screen if you basically already have the stencil what is it that you need the silk for I'm new to this process and I have no idea what's going on but I wanted to learn thank you
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
By adhering the design to the silk you are able to keep details that would otherwise be lost like the centers of the letters “a”, “b”, “d”, “o”. In the playlist “HTV Silkscreen” the video “Some differences between Silkscreen, Plastic, and Bridged Plastic Cookie Stencils” has a good visual explanation.

@@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 oh okay thank you 😊now I understand... So can you use regular HTV?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
@@vanateecustomprints6399 you’re most welcome 😊 You can use other htv to assemble a silkscreen. The advantage of clear is to see the cookie through it for good placement. This product and ThermoFlex Frosty Clear Glossy WITH a sticky carrier are my favorites.

@@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 so the only clear thing that I have is transparency film do you think that would work
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
@@vanateecustomprints6399 I’m not familiar with how that works or if it will stick, and stay stuck, to the silkscreen. You can use colored htv. There’s a KZbin video by Sugar Beez “How to screen print on cookies” that shows how to use a clipboard to help with good placement.

With the silk screen being on top do you find that the stencil still holds up just as well on the cookie as if the silk screen was on the back of the image ?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
I haven’t noticed a difference either way but I figure it’s better to not scrape on the adhesive side. It’s a personal preference for me.

Where do you get your teflon? Can I use an iron? Thanks
@creatingcookiestencilsinde22613 жыл бұрын
I purchased the Teflon from Amazon it was around $10 for a three pack that will last my lifetime LOL. You can use a home iron however you want to make sure the plate does not have holes in it and you do not use any steam functions. Here is a video showing how to find a good setting. Make sure you start with a low setting and short amount of time so that you don’t overheat your materials. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onqpimeArJWbj7s

I tried this material tonight and it was a complete fail! It’s super easy to weed and I loved that. When I pressed it, i used my easy press set at 290 and for the same timing like you did. Mine melted, ugh. So I tried at 270 and it looked like some parts were melted while others had bubbles and didn’t adhere to my silk screen. Do you have any idea what I’m doing wrong? Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Since there can be variables from one heat press to the next it can be tricky sometimes to dial it in perfectly. I use a clamshell press and medium pressure. Always use a Teflon sheet between your heat press and the materials. Some people use quality parchment but I haven’t tried it. My suggestion would be low and slow. Low temperature for short periods of time until you get it just right for your press.
