How To Attach A DSLR To Your Telescope!

This is a non sponsored video. This video will show you how to attach a DSLR to your ETX-70 (or below) along with other explanations about how it works!
This method is specific to the ETX-70. There are other mounts for your DSLR for other brands and also for you to use the eyepieces that you use on your telescope. Be sure that you understand the focal length of your telescope. My telescope is a 70mm but for an ETX-90 you will need a different adapter. I will list below some links to purchase different adapters. Disclaimer!! Always keep receipts and understand return policies-ive had to return a few items due to false descriptions and ive only tested this on my telescope!

You are my hero. You are 100% right - there is no information on-line about this. I too have ordered a variety of parts I do not need and they look just like your useless parts. I was trying to attach DSLR to eyepiece. This explains why that does not work. I have the ETX-80 and a Canon DSLR. Ordered the correct adapter from B&H. Thanks so much!

I haven’t tested extensively but the few images I’ve taken have been out of focus. It does not seem possible to correct this. Have you had these problems?

@@joefrat yea that was the initial problems that i had. What camera are you using and are you using the t-mount only? (thats the ring shaped piece that fits on your camera.) lastly what kind of telescope are you using?

​@@astronomitaph2676 I think I have the exact same Telescope as you and am using a Canon 77d. I am using the T-Mount all by itself but everything is slightly out of focus, My camera ends up upside down too. Were you able to correct this?

I just broke down and got the 125 with audiostar,2x Barlow and all the filters. I want to try deep field long exposures ✌️

Hey nice explanation , if you want to separate the mount from adaptor do this, there are 3 small holes in the side of the t adaptor these are screws , undo these screws with a small screwdriver to release the t-mount. Gabby

I saw this video a couple days or so ago and just received my t-mount today. I came here to comment and tell you the very same thing. I noticed those three screw holes and sure enough, they allow for rotation of the camera to suit your whim, then just snug them back down (just snug, don't break nuthin'). gabby early beat me to it - that's where the "early" comes from I guess.

Would I need a field flattener with the ETX 80 and a Nikon D3200. Also, where in this setup would you introduce a light pollution filter? If you have examples of both would be appreciated. Thanks for the video, helped to clarify the confusion on the camera adapter.

Could you share specific parts to get connection ? I can’t find the adapter DSLR to Meade conector ... I follow your link but you need T to Meade connector

With the ETX 80, you CAN get some of the larger galxies/nebulae ... it's a bit tricky, and I'm playing around with the tracking/computer to see if there's anything better you can do... (Aside from just upgrading to a better scope)...

Joshua Davis well this video was posted at the very beginning of my astronomy interest. I wanted to outline my issues with finding which pieces to use. I ended up getting a Meade Polaris 90mm. Not much of an upgrade. But i wanted to use something other than an altazimuth Mount. So i could get used to the equatorial Mount. My next purchase will more than like be a star tracker pro or something along those lines. Less headache. But thank you for letting me know! I tried to get a few shots of andromeda (i don’t have a tracking Mount so my exposures are very short) andromeda didn’t look spectacular but anyone who knows astronomy would know it was andromeda.

I'm looking at the ETX 125 to connect my Nikon D850 for the Mercury transit in November. Are you able to attach filters to the diagonal and then connect your camera?
