How to attach files to an email in Gmail

In this video we are going to see how to attach a file to an email on Gmail. There are several ways to do it, but in this video we will cover the direct attachment method, and the google drive attachment method. Both methods work if you are composing a new email, or if you are responding to an email.

As is often the case, top search results (how I got this link) only partially match actual search terms, and none tell how to insert an attached image INLINE on Gmail. In fact here is what appears to be the title of your video (right above it) in the search results:"How do I make an attachment appear in the body of an email in Gmail?" Is there a way to do this that doesn't involve a complex hack?

To insert an image to the body of an email, use the "insert photo" icon, as shown in this image: imgur.com/UNJxiFb OR copy the picture from your desktop/folder and paste it in the email body while composing it.

@@blungo Thanks for your quick response. As crazy as this is, I use a Chromebook --which ought to make this simpler-- where using the insert photo does not allow you to navigate your computer, but instead opens up a broken version of your google photos that contains almost no photos! While most things about the Chromebook are amazing, this one is a bust. I did finally figure out a workaround, which I've since forgotten 😂

You can try logging into an incognito window. If you can browse your files, then the problem could be the browsing data. So you just need to clear the browsing data in your normal browser. If the incognito window method doesn't work, then I would try a different browser.

@@sexypoetry Sorry I think I misunderstood your first comment. Are you trying to attach a file from Google Drive? If yes, and that's the window not opening, you will have to clear your cookies. Also open google drive on another tab and make sure all your files are there already.

@@blungo i am not trying to attach the file from the google drive but from the "pictures" on my mac...trying to attach the photo...but nothing happens when i click on "attach" in gmail

@@sexypoetry On your mac, open the folder where the picture is located. Then on Gmail, compose a new email, and drag and drop the file just as it's showed in the video at 1:24. If this doesn't work, can try to do it on an incognito window on your browser.
